Should united adopt a lower league team

In these dark times for the country and football, should each premier league team adopt a smaller lower league team to financially support them whilst no income is coming in. I feel several clubs could go under due to financial cash flow problems. We have been in the lower league and experienced great times with proper fans of the smaller teams, i think it would show a true solidarity if we could assist these true institutions of the game. Any thoughts

I would be ok with that we have helped Rotherham in the past. It could develop a relationship that could help both clubs in the future with development players and loans. I would suggest going to one of CWAK's old clubs as they lost out losing them.

I don't think any can truly 'afford' to, but plenty of divisions below the National League had games called off. Bit mental that Sheffield FC weren't playing but Chesterfield. Fylde, Halifax etc. were.

All lower league clubs are going to hit trouble financially and it is out of their control.

The "businesses" behind clubs can go to the wall. Just change the rules that it doesn't mean demotions. Ask a Halifax or AFC Wimbledon fan it they are not the same heart and soul as the old club.

Well thats what you get from supporters from other clubs.it is how it is, no matter what club you would pick you will get that., normal reaction .

Personally I don't see it being too much of a hardship for the Prem to hold back 5m per club donate it to the EFl to give 2m to each Champ club 1m for each Lg 1 and 500k for each Lg 2 and distribute the rest down the leagues. No Premiership team should miss that from the huge sums floating around. I know there'll be people out there giving it 'no that's ours' but if football can't help itself out in times like this the game will eventually destroy itself.

I think that Sky have a remit to trickle down TV income to the lower leagues. It’s not much and open to much criticism, but with no product to sell, and sky subscribers wanting refunds, they are unlikely to be feeling philanthropic.
I’m sure sky will have smart legal clauses in their payments to clubs, on account of clubs not fulfilling contractural obligations.
The EPL and EFL are responsible for stopping the product that Sky are paying for, so perhaps they should foot the bill?
Will it incentivise the leagues to enforce FFP sanctions against clubs that have breached those rules?
With less money sloshing around, maybe top clubs will be obliged to moderate transfer prices and wages? Some hope of that happening!

It’s a big mess for the sport in general for all concerned. The OP has suggested a fine idealistic proposal, but as we all know, elite sport is a business now, so the room for philanthropy and largesse is a pipe dream, unless your name is Bill Gates.
