Controversial opinion but I think that yes they should, so interested in what others think.

I don't have enough loyalty points to get to many away games. (I'm only talking about away games here when there's a sell out stopping people like me going to them)

If buying a Match Pass (to watch the game online for those who don't know) was rewarded with Loyalty Points more would sign up and generate more revenue for the club, as well as moving people up the ladder compared to those who choose not to get them.

If I am paying to watch the Blades, why wouldn't that deserve Loyalty points?

Personally no. Should you get loyalty points for watching highlights, or getting BT Sport or Sky, or reading reports, or tweeting, or posting on here?? Or having a Blades duvet or watch? You get the idea. So no- loyalty points for buying tickets to go to the match should probably be for buying tickets to go to the match I'd have thought.

If the money goes to the club ? , then why not.

Sure. It's not like casually watching it on TV. You have to pay £10 and usually faff about. All loyalty points should taper down to nothing over a time period.

I have lots of loyalty points and I agree.

If you're putting money into the club then you should be rewarded for it.

Yes, but only if can I have some retrospective points for all the live games I watched at the Lane backdated to the early 70's prior to my getting a season ticket and a few bonus points for when I watch us on Quest! 🙂
I was at Bury. I'm a) a bigger Blade than you, and b) deserving of more points 🤣

Bert has been going to The Lane since the 60's he's bought a programme at every single game and he once bought a pie in 1974 (Meat and potato)

Can someone calculate his loyalty points?

PS He has no idea why this is in italics.

No and no.
I mean, never bother with away games or cup games anymore, always a season ticket but those who turn up should be the ones offered the loyalty points not people sat at home.

It's hard work watching utd play miles away or a crappy first round cup games on a freezing windy swept rainy day, that's loyalty points worthy, not comfy sofa at home.

Why not I think 10 points per game

Those who go to away games spend £30 per ticket approx plus travel expenses plus the time they have invested so they deserve the 100 or so points on offer, so someone who sits in front of the TV just chucks a tenner at it deserves 10 points

To start with lose 50 points for buying the pie. Bert , it's not the loyalty points you should calculate but the monetary cost of accumulating your points. On second thoughts don't bother it will scare the living daylights out of you. But if you do calculate the money, don't tell Mrs Bert.

I think you did used to get loyalty points for buying such items in the club shop.

Apart from going to games, the only thing that should count towards loyalty points is chipping in to help buy Glyn Hodges in 1991.

Very good point, yes they should give loyalty points for paying the £10 to watch a game online! Given that its expensive, crap quality on both picture and sound, they need to make it worth paying the tenner rather than getting a dodgy stream online.

Clubs need to do more to make their content accessible and this would be a good way to do it through their own platforms

I can't see anything like this being introduced as it'll keep some non-ST holder away from games when it's bad weather or whatever. If we consistently sold out games, then only once we've sold out would the option to buy a game pass and gain loyalty points be available. If there is a ticket to buy in the stands, you have the option to buy it or miss the game. A bit like Blackout games in the NFL, if they're tickets available for the game, local t.v won't show it.

But if they did ever introduced something like this it would have to be a small amount of points per game to keep those die-hard, bigger blade, loyalty point whores happy.

I see something like this working at a bigger club, Man Utd (for example) would be perfect for overseas fans to accumulate points which enables them to attend a game which if they didn't have, would never be able to.

Straight up ‘no’ for me on this. As said previous going to the game is entirely different from sitting on your arse at home and the club cash scheme already rewards your investment.

I'd agree it is different, but remember the OP is in the specific circumstances where I can't go to a game because there's not enough tickets.

Therefore something like it being weighted accordingly could be appropriate so the match pass is worth half of going to the game.

I do think that the club can be more creative generally in weighting loyalty points, especially if it's Blackburn away and there are no late trains going back midweek etc.

As someone said above there is an argument that paying for items in the club shop should get loyalty points also, though I am wary of the richest fans just buying their way up the ladder.

Something like that may work, it just tops you up with a few loyalty points but nothing like the sort of points you get for a match day ticket.

If Season ticket holders choose not to go to games and pay £10 per game to sit at home on top of a season ticket, then the club is winning.
