Should buying a Match Pass earn Loyalty Points?

If Season ticket holders choose not to go to games and pay £10 per game to sit at home on top of a season ticket, then the club is winning.

That's true, I guess paying for a game pass is better than not attending at all and the club getting nothing.

Personally I would say yes.

Some people are in jobs that result in them not being able to attend many games and find themselves at a disadvantage when they can get to games.

And don't forget that the matches are only "legally" allowed to be shown in the UK if a) they're not at 3pm on a saturday and b) they're not already on TV.

I've seen When Saturday Comes about 15 times. How many points for that?

Free season ticket for life if you can spot yourself in the audience.

Free punch in the kidneys if you can spot yourself dancing the funky chicken at the end.

I was seriously considering going to the Barnsley match, but ended up watching it sat on my arse for the price of £10. I can only get to occasional matches and have to fly over to the UK. By the time Barnsley had decided to give more tickets, then put them on sale late to a very casual attender (season ticket when in Sheffield), the cost of two flights had gone up from £400 which I would have paid to £700 which I can’t justify. Getting to matches is becoming more and more difficult with the TV schedules too. Half term holiday so the Villa supporters in my house were looking forward to going over to see a match. Arsenal away moved to Friday night, no flights available to get in time, West Ham the following weekend, moved to the Sunday afternoon, no flights back in time for work on Monday, so sitting on ones arse has become more and more the option. Hopefully, I can get a ticket for the Hull game at Christmas when I’m over anyway, but I‘m still nervously waiting to see if it gets moved, having paid for the hotel stay overnight.

Incidentally, Villa have just announced that they will ban supporters who are found to share their season tickets, that means they should go on resale to give people like me the chance to buy a ticket, but if you are sharing your season ticket with family, I think that is taking things a bit too far.

I stand corrected, if it’s family, it’s ok as long as you contact the ticket office first!

On the premise that the game is sold out and its not as many points as a ticket for the game I dont think its the worst idea in the world tbf.

I also wouldnt be against there being some kind of loyalty points given to kids for purchases in the club shop etc. Theres obviously a difficulty in younger fans being able to gain the points necessary to go to the bigger games and id say its them that are at the biggest disadvantage of the current system.

Ultimately, the absolute fairest way to overhaul the loyalty points system would be to introduce a system thats geared towards rewarding more recent loyalty. Ive said on here before that I dont think the ballot system is as effective as it would be in the Premier League. At least the club have thought about changes though which is a start.

I've posted on the Wednesday thread loads of times and some of my comments have not been very nice about them. How many points is that worth?

Something like that may work, it just tops you up with a few loyalty points but nothing like the sort of points you get for a match day ticket.

I agree 1 point per £1 dont see the harm in that, its not enough to be a game changer it wont suddenly get you priority upto the next level but it will reward you for paying for a stream especially when some people use illegal streams.

I would love to have a season ticket and go to every home match like I used to but I have commitments that stop me from doing it.

Was about to start a new thread when I saw this had already been discussed but with this, slightly irritating, 500 minimum points to be able to buy a Man City ticket, it might have been possible to get a ticket if I had received points for all the games I have watched on SUTV. I’m not expecting the same as those who physically go to matches, but some recognition to those who would rather give their money to the club and not a dodgy free feed, would be nice. I do hope that we sell out

Or indeed for buying an audio commentary pass as most football clubs websites I’ve been on now offer this for free
