At the same time, blindly accepting anything that comes our way is really not healthy. Previous developments have done nothing for us so far. If you're clear exactly how the profits (or loss) from this development will impact on the football club, I'd love to hear it - because we all want it to be a positive thing.

or blindly dissing anything we do , would be the other side of the coin

if we left it derelict would that be preferable

I dont get how anything anyone does at the LANE has to have a totally negative reason, I CANT SEE WHY ANY "PROGRESS" IS MET WITH TOTAL CYNACISM,
I am not being a clapper , just wonder why its the doubters coming out with such anti everything on every matter
If we changed pie suppliers it would be for Mccabes benifit no doubt

Have you read my posts on this subject? Have you read this thread and the majority of the contributions? Probably 25 contributors - most just discussing issues, a few coming out with the usual hatred, and a few so blinded by the hatred they can't distinguish between those who want to question and those who want to hate.

Anyway, celebration time, no? :)

I asked the question posted above - you jumped in and demanded I said why it would be bad, before I dared question if it were good or bad. Mistaken at best, arsey at worst.

The short answer is, all of them (other than perhaps Robson). On numerous occasions I have questioned the ramping up of debt. The ground expansion plan, which we were pursuing long after the huge debt pile had been exposed, was an out and out joke. And you kept justifying it way beyond the sell by date.

If that was arsey, then you're too sensitive ;)

No, you're wrong there. I rarely get involved in the issues of club finances, I don't feel that its my money being spent. But as long as we're servicing the debt then i don't really see it as a major issue. I personally have some large debt, but its managed and gives me some cashflow by taking out loans.

As for the ground expansion, i'll repeat what i said earlier in this thread and also at the time... IF we were able to sustain the high attendances for a perhaps 2-5 years, then it would be justified. You're mistaken if you think I accepted it out right. However, I am generally positive, i don't see panic straight away, i prefer to digest things and see what happens. I don't always believe that sacking a manager is the first option, others do.

At this point I begin to question if you've been on the sauce all day. Is objectivity taking a neutral view on whether a +£50M debt and associated interest charges is good for the club?

As I said, I don't pay much interest to the financial side. But we appear to be paying our players and also bringing several players in.

We sell our top scorer, our chairman says "I hope he stays" - we get loan replacements at the death of the closure of the transfer window, and you "objectively" suggest this is part of planned strengthening.

I corrected you on this before and never said that it was planned strengthing. Objectively, it doesn't look like bad business so far, planned, spontaneous or just lucky... its taken us to the top of the league.

So back to the apartments, why are they bad then? Genuine question which you've not answered.

The problem as I see it is if, the flats are sold either individually or en masse, then the new owners or tenants, shall have the right to object to any planning applications in future.

Oi! How many likes did you get for that?

Where were mine eh? :)

In servicing debt, we're paying interest and it's cash we haven't got for other things. If we then sell our top scorer after 5 months, I'm gobsmacked you're asking me to make the connection. But we digress again;

Seriously fella, stop writing long posts and spend the time saved to read what I've written - Find the post where I said where the apartments are bad, and I will answer it.

To be honest, I couldn't be arsed to add to the McCabe debate (hence the "IF"), and was just commenting on the affect the building would have on the ground.

It's impossible, I believe, for anyone to assess the true ins and outs of ther other dealings you mention. We can only agree that the upshot has been a disaster. That doesn't necessarly mean future efforts will be - and that's the bit where me and you differ - you think that he doesn't really care about the club, I think he does. This bit is just opinion.

This one?

"I guess that puts paid to the Kop expansion then."

Not from what I can see of the plans - in fact I'm sure something similar was part of the original Kop expansion plan.

I think it's perhaps it's this one that's confused you. This was just a question -and a statement that past disasters meant that people were right to question.

You offer the owners good money for them. The cost of those houses is chicken-feed to the likes of McCabe. You make the owners an offer they cannot refuse and you know what? its still chicken-feed. Especially compared with players' wages. We shall have had players on more a week than the cost of a house on John Street.

Like I say, other clubs have done it.

I think you'll find that houses on John Street would sell for around £80,000

I can see Alcoblade arguing with himself for pages and pages, in something akin to a one man tribute act to Darren and Walthy... :D

It's the Lizards in charge that are sending us crazy, Jon Bon.

depends which pot the moneys coming from surely , selling our "top" ( with the aid of numerous pens) scorer was a football club decision, you assume this is also funded by the football club , maybe its not , the plc will be doing this , totally different pot, I would assume
