Fair enough, they just only mentioned dry trains on the Hull routes, inferring that the others would be normal.

United popped a little letter in with the tickets so we knew it was a dry train from the word go. It does seem a bit daft that anyone traveling on a chartered train is treat like a raging drunken hooligan, lets be honest we will all be on the clubs data base they must know we don't have a banning order. It is not like we are going to wreck the train when they have everyones names and address. Overkill once more and football fans treat like shit or at best 2nd class citizens.

I can understand the SUFC chartered train being a dry train ( this service is governed by the sporting events (control of alcohol) act 1985. therefore no alcohol is allowed to be carried on the train and no alcohol will be served.) but I think it is a bit much for East Coast & East Midland trains not to serve alcohol on normal service trains. I do wonder if these rules are enforced on trains taking Rugby fans to the challenge cup finals. Us football fans do seem to always get the shit end of the stick, I do wonder why plod think a not so fit 58 yr old who has had heart surgery twice on his heart condition is such a huge threat to society should be have a tinny on the train???

To be honest if you need to consume alcohol from 8:30 am to make sure you enjoy your day then there's something amiss. Let's assume that you get to the pub of your choice near Wembley for 11:00 am. That then gives you three and a half hours of drinking time before the pub shuts at 3:00 pm. If you manage around a pint every 20 minutes then this gives you time to drink at least ten pints. Is this not enough?

I'm sure that some people will be able to drink in a civilised manner when on a train, but these "dry" measures are in place to take account of the dickheads who can't handle their drink.

In reply to the post about rugby fans; drinking is almost encouraged was coming through Preston before Super League Grand Final last year and 7 lads got on, they stood in the door not allowing it to close until the 8th lad turned up with cans for everyone. Conductor didn't seem bothered at all

That's a shame, we're on the next one 11.15 gets in 13.28. What time you going back?
Havent a clue. Have got club wemberleeee tickets so will either be enjoying my post match refreshments with a huge grin on my face, listening to every word of the speakers post match analysis, or grumpily trudging off to the station with everybody else.

That is clearly not enough for Silverfox, the man is a martyr to the consumption of beer.
