From my recollections, it was started by a tall, handsome bloke who was stylishly dressed, who thought it would be a good idea to remove his white Adidas Stan Smith and brandish then in the air shouting “shoes off, if you want him out”

True dat. What people don’t realise is that’s when I started that chant off, it was starting to get nasty with people threatening to storm the South Stand, and then I came up with that, and everyone joined in and it lightened the mood a bit.
