The inconvenient truth I think we're all noticing, well I certainly am, is that this side just is not read for a season in the prem. We tried to hold a relatively average (though tenacious) Bristol City tonight and even gifted them half an hour or play round our box. Replace that team with one that has the likes of Haaland, Isak or Salah in there.
We've gained points fair enough and that's good enough in this league but nowhere near in the next. How many times from the view froms have we walked away with 3 points and heard fans say "they're not all that" let's be honest, they're right.
Alot has to change but putting in a poor first half, grabbing a goal in the second and thinking that's joh done just is not the tactic.
Always said being in the Championship as a former Premier League team is not only about getting results, it's about building a team, a style of play that instils confidence in the players and fans, using the season against so called inferior teams so that we can make a better effort next time.
But this instils nothing in anyone
When most Championship teams come to Bramall Lane they want to defend, try to pull off a draw and if they can't do that at least keep the score respectful.
The very worst of the Championship has no problem doing that, any team that wants to play has no problem doing that either because Wilder will shit himself and let the team sit back so that they can get on with it.
I believe a number of our players can do ok in the Prem but they are not allowed to play, not allowed to build confidence, not allowed to build any rhythm, not allowed to try anything clever or entertaining, and if they go into the Prem they will be a shit as the last time they were there.
The Prem has only one attraction for us, MONEY, there is absolutely nothing else in it for us.
And this wouldn't be so bad if the club ever became better because of it
