Another contender for the worst home kit of all time award - along with the current one....

I think it was our away shirt in both 76-7 and 77-8. The current badge came in in the latter season, hence it depends what season you want it to be....

Interesting. So i could literally stitch the modern style badge on?

Could do with images of the two kits but apparently they are near impossible to find on the web.

We played in that kit in the first game of the season at Spurs in Aug 77 and there are pics in a subsequent programme, which I have. Send me a PM to remind me and I will bring a copy into work on Monday and (if technology does not defeat me), scan it in and send it to you.

In case you lot want to go for a Friday Quiz and guess the autographs and the year of the shirt here's a close up of the signed umbro one.

Apparently there were two Tony Kenworthy's :)

85-6. Only season Frain and Kenworthy both played, though Frain made his debut (31/3/86) after Kenworthy's last competitive game (25/1/86). I suspect the shirt comes from the latter's testimonial in May 86 when both would have played.

there was that home match against Crystal Palace where they wore it too( the St. Helens style V). I remember a photo of Geoff Salmons playing against them, it was in the next weeks programme and I thought it had been discussed 'here'. I think the round badge was in the middle....

Other players who played that season were and were still around at the end of the season were

C. Morris
T. Philliskirk
R. Black
B. Smith
P. Thompson
K. McNaught
R. Lewington
S. Foley
P. Withe
S. Wigley

So the others will be amongst that lot :-)

Colin's on there

So from L to R going down the white stripes

Morris
Tomlinson

Walshaw
?
Stancliffe
Frain
Arnott

Eves
Kenworthy
?
Smith
Withe

Kenworthy
Bolton
Eckhardt
McGeeney
Edwards

I was just about to do it in exactly the same format as you have :) but with one more inclusion

The one beneath Walshaw was a midfielder who sometimes played in a forward position and had an eye for goal. Not the tallest feller.

Alas for the one between Kenworthy and Smith - I still cannot recall to this day

Steve Foley :-)

Mine is a Hero of Socialism.

The missing guy has a short name with a "e" in. Steve Wigley possibly?

Yeah, mine clings on against all the odds too :)

Can't decipher the other signature - so let's go with that. The only other suggestion I had was that it was a duplicate of Mel Eves - whose brightest Blades moment was that goal against the Dirties to win it - what a strike that was?

You're not off to @Wall tomorrow then?

Nope, too busy with having 7 females jumping on top of me. Unfortunately said females are all 8 (kid's birthday party and I have the surrogate dad role).

Eves pretty much single handedly rescued us from relegation in the 2nd half of 84-5 - 9 goals in about 20 games. Couldn';t keep it up next season though.

Already told them to change collar and cuffs.. All sorted.

Just awaiting confirmation on how to order.

Does seem a lighter shade of yellow the one we wore. Does anyone know where you can get badges to sew on that will be of right size? Would be interested just fearful may be some way from original due to shade of yellow.

The Red and White one, the stripes may need to be thicker

Its a great idea if it can be done to replicate some classic kits but do fear they may be some way off?

Anyway keep us posted on prices etc

Didn't Toffs used to do the 70s away shirts, I'm sure Greenwich Blade had one or two.

I have the "yellow-chevrons" retro shirt as sold in the Club Shop about 10 years ago which according to the label was made by Score Draw Official Retro.

It's good, but it's not quite right. For a start it's made from the wrong material i.e. cotton as opposed to genuine Admiral itchy-hessian-sack material, and really it has to be sackcloth - ashes optional - for me. The cotton means that the yellow colour has faded so it is nowhere near as vibrant as I would like it to be these days.

Also, the badge seems a bit too big if you ask me, and I'm undecided on the angle of the chevrons.

According to my therapist being a perfectionist is a bit of a curse.
