I wonder if young Nigel remembers it. somebody should ask him.

Clough Snr was born in Middlesbrough, which makes him a Yorkshireman. Bit like my Grandad - I'd love to see you try and convince him he's not from God's Own Country :)

What about Cleveland? The strange county that seems to be made up that only comes into existence when theres bad things to say about Middlesbrough. If we're talking smack heads and prossies they're all in Cleveland, if your talking Parmos and err cant think of anything else good from Middlesbrough then they're from north Yorkshire

Thought he was a smog monster from Teeside?
:D Middlesbrough was in Yorkshire before the boundary changes (I think in mid 1970s). Chris Old was born in Middlesbrough and Paul Jarvis was born in Redcar so they qualified to play for Yorkshire CCC

So is that an official channel then?

I was always under the impression it wasn't but now I'm not so sure.

Don't think there is a Teeside CCC

Forget the local authority nonsense. Yorkshire is a geographical area and it's northern boundary is the River Tees. So Middlesborough is in Yorkshire.

The River Sheaf was the traditional boundary between Yorkshire and Derbyshire, so that puts Norton, Dore, Totley, Beighton etc in Derbyshire :-)

I didn't know that, I was thinking as I posted about the Tees what was the southern boundary? My dad was born at Halfway but always followed Derbyshire cricket as the village was in that county when he was born.

Seen the You Tube channel advertised on the big screen christ knows how many times but never actually looked for it. This isn't a new thing.

Born in Nether Edge Hospital but brought up in Norton, am I qualified to play cricket for Yorkshire or not?

Middlesbrough only on one bank?
Yes. North of the river are Seal Sands (Chemical plants, storage & nature reserve) Billingham & Stockton, historically part of County Durham. Middlesbrough is now a Unitary Authoritiy so its not in North Yorkshire, but it IS in the ceremonial county of Yorkshire.
Dore was in derbyshire until the creation of South Yorkshire in the early 70s. There's a few other places close to borders of Yorkshire like that.
Technically, York is no longer in Yorkshire as it too is a unitary authority. :-/
If you think the tinkering with Yorkshire is bad, you should read the regular letters in our local paper moaning about Cumbria and how Westmorland, Cumberland & Lancashire 'over the water' are inherently better. There were plans a couple of years ago to rearrange again, with Kendal going into a new 'North Lancashire', Windermere & most of the lake district being part of a county controlled from Barrow, whilst whitehaven, Workington, Penrith & Carlisle would be lumped into another county. All of which would cost millions for absolutely no benefit, except to the politicians and their mates in the rebranding consultancies. I think part of it may have had something to do with the decision of Cumbria CC about the potential for a deep repository - Take the disenting voices out of the equation by redrawing the boundaries.

"Back in the Day" Frechville, Mosborough, Beighton and Halfway, were all in Derbyshire, the boundary line was where the Birley Squash club was (now Rhino Sports/Steelers Bar)
Oh for the good old days, later pub closing times in Derbyshire in those days.
