That's our game v Palace on 17/9/77. Palace turned up with their home kit and the ref decided it was too much like United's and ordered them to change. They had to borrow our away kit.

The United player is Geoff Salmons in his last game on loan from Stoke and the Palace guy looks like Rachid Harkouk. We lost 2-0.

Edit: sorry, Salmons' first game. Speight is behind him.

It wasn't one of those occasions when the away team didn't have a sutible kit and we had to lend them one to play in was it?
Edit: question answered before I'd finished posting, haha.

That was when Palace came to BDTBL in a div 2 match in Sept 1977, the ref wasnt happy with the kit Palace brought with them so they had to wear our away shirt. We lost 2-0. palace's Ian Evans is challenging Geoff Salmons (on loan from Stoke before he moved to Leicester) to the ball and Mick Speight is behind Salmons

That's from Aug 11, where do you find this shit, I'm very impressed if it's memory.
It was cos I thought the Palace player in Walthy's photo is Ian Evans and the saw Darren's post that it is Rachid Harkouk. I do remember Rachid too but to make sure I googled the images and when I was typing in Rachid Harkouk, the google prediction appeared with "Rachid Harkouk drugs", I hadnt known about that till then so I had a look at the reports and was surprised. I am still confident that the Palace player in Walthy's photo is Ian Evans (dont blame Darren for thinking that he was Harkouk as he look similar but Evans is more lanky). When Sharrow posted the front cover of the Blades v Cardiff programme a few days ago, I was looking at Boro players in the photo and wondered what happened to Boro's keeper at the time, Willie Whigham, so I googled him and I was surprised to discover that he had a spell in prison for stealing not long after the end of his playing career

Salmons came back on loan for a month and played really well. It was a big disappointment that he was not re-signed from Stoke. Money I guess.
