A relegation 6 pointer even at this stage of the season. Coventry are a poor side and without looking nervously at the teams below and around them, we should be beating teams like Coventry at home. Speed has the perfect opportunity to slicence the critics if United bounce back and you could ask for a much easier home game. That said' the Sky Blues arrive on the back of a decent win against Barnsley were as the Blades are likely to be deflated after their worst performance of the season.

Well, what a dire prospect this promises to be. Two sides lacking in confidence and completely devoid of any quality. I'm glad that our lass has got me out building the she rather than the prospect of a dull game against Coventry.

My prediction is 1-1.

The team I would go with is:

--------- SS

De Laet Morgs Bartely Jordan

-------- Britton
Lowton ----- ? ------ Yeates

----- Boggy Ward

The ? would probably have to be filled with Ertl, Quinn or Monty, but I would only put them in the side begrudgingly. The 3 of them have proved time and time again that they are not fit to wear at United shirt. Is there anyone from the youth team that we can utilise?

Speed, I'm sure will play 4-5-1 (despite our failings) and I expect he'll go with:

--------- SS

Calve Bartley Morgs De Laet

------ Britton Monty
---------- Quinn
Ward -------------- Yeates

-------- Cresswell

I wouldn't grumble too much at this formation (both teams above look poor) providing that we try to win. I expect nothing other than attacking football from the 1st minute. I don't mind if we lose (though I'll still moan about it) as long as we do trying. The thing that killed me under Blackwell was playing negatve and not trying to win games. Coventry are not very good, we are at home and hence we should go for it. Yes, we should stay solid but we should get players forward, show some grit and attack, attack, attack!

Can see the attendence being around 18k for this game and hopefully Mr Birch and Mr McCabe will be taking notes. I assume they watched the debacle last week (or at least were briefed about it) and they must realise we are dicing with danger (or relegation of we stay on this path).

Well seeing as De Laet has gone back and is expected at Leicester at some point this week, I'll go for a score-line of:

Blades 2 Coventry 1 :Ward (EQ), Ertl(90); Lowton og.(FH)

Simonsen

Lowton, Morgan, Bartley, Taylor

Calve, Britton, Ertl, Yeates

Ward, Cresswell

Subs:
Wright, Ronny, Slew, Bogdanovic, Quinn, Montgomery, James

Attendance of 19K

Blades 4-0 win, Jordan Stewart makes a surprise comeback to the delight of the kop, Scores hatrick, rips off his shirt to reveal a Tshirt with the slogan "never been a professional footballer?"

Slew Cresswell

Don't want to predict a score because I honestly cant call any game involving us at the moment. If we line up as above (and we probably wont) I reckon we've half a chance.

If that twat ever comes even within the vicinity of Bramall Lane then I'm off to suport Chesterfield. Speaking of never been a professional footballer, how long are we going to persist with the completely and utterly inneffective Johannes Ertl? Mind you, I sympathise with Speed as his other choices (Monty and Quinn) fit perfectly into that bracket too!?

Ah now we're talking! Normally it takes me a long while to make my mind up on a player. Ertl didn't take very long to show me that he was a waste of space.

So, who's won the freebies??

saturday will be our lasses first match at the Lane (would have picked another but time off work/uni allows this one). I hope she brings a win, my mate who I go to the lane with took his lass for her first game v Scunny. 'Nuff said.

forgot to add my prediction. I'll go with my heart and say 1-0 win, head says a different score..

It is revealed that a large number of his colleagues have been wearing such T-Shirts for many years, with little or no opportunity to show them off.

Pinchy a serious question for you. Given that our team are struggling to play the game the way Speed seems to want, and that we aren't going to be signing anyone anytime soon, what do you propose we do? We have so few options within the squad, and there aren't really any stand out players in the Academy apart from those who we now know about.

Let's face it guys This season was doomed when McCabe and Birch took the decision to not sack Blackwell at the end of last season!
Speedo has been left with a team bereft of speed, talent and creativity and bodies.
However the expect him to manage and coach a set of inept, unreliable, talentless shower of sh!te is beyond me!
They set the tone giving extension to contract for the likes of Monty, Quinn and Morgan two of which struggles to make the team each week and neither should be anywhere near it to be honest!
If we escape relegation then I would say Speedo had done a great job
Talk about tying his hands together, they have also tied his legs together, blindfolded him and gagged him for good measure!

I'd sign Andy Reid on a month's loan!

In January I would move on Monty and Quinn if anyone will have them. I would bring in Brian Stock and Richie Wellens. I would replace Morgan with a younger, bigger, fitter centre-back. I would take a chance on a striker from the lower leagues [Not ALF]or a loan from the Prem.

I would rather finish in the bottom six than revert to hoofball, if that's what you're asking. It's as dead as a dinosaur. It doesn't work and its excruciating to watch.

I'll make a tentative prediction that on the basis of that team performance, the attendance won't be above 20k next week.

I don't think we were actually that bad, not good enough, but not shockingly bad.

It's just incredibly, incredibly frustrating.

What a bag of shit. Players and backroom staff should be fine the past 2 weeks wages. Give it to the Sheffield childrens hospital. They deserve it more!!!

I'd have to agree Linz.
As Foxy posted, it's horrendously frustrating how it's just not going for us at present. It's only pure belief that the tide will turn for us that keeps me going i think!!!
COYRWW

Should have drawn with the chances we had off the bar, possibly would have won it, but poor for the rest of it and we didn't create any real chances other than those till the last 5 minutes. Not a good enough display but not our worse. And another woeful referee.

I'd also like to thank our hosts for the tickets and add that I have a small special 125th anniversary shirt free to any good home that makes a contribution to this site rather than my pockets.

Tentative?

Stone cold certainty we won't top 18000 - unless they are giving out loads of freebies

So, who's won the freebies??

Probably some poor unfortunate part-timer!

:D

I don't care what anyone says, there was never 20,000 there today. I can see them giving out a load of freebies in the upper tier for next week too just to bump the numbers up.

Cov brought a couple of K don't forget. Still didn't look like 20k though as you say

Why would they lie? Seriously, why? Now, when Paul Woolhouse was on the board the crowd figures were understated and Woolhouse used to take a large amout of cash home with him for spending money, so the figures were "reduced" to cover up the theft, but why overstate the crowd? Of course like most conspiracy theories people will believe what they want to.

Have to agree with that, overall we were better than Coventry in my opinion but up front we've got less teeth than an old biddy with a life long craving for gobstoppers, Taylor should never play for us again, bloody useless, the nidfield moved the ball about quite well particularly after Reid was subbed on for Quinn but we are still miles away from using the possession to either break from the middle or link up with the striker(s).

I would suspect, if indeed it does go on, that's it's to help push sponsorship packages by maxing out on potential audience figures.

Not 100% on this, but I seem to remember we were quite open about including numbers in the boxes etc a few years back as a means of pushing the average over 16000.

No real feeling either way on whether we do or don't, but I'm struggling to recall seeing the "S" and the "C" so promanently on the Kop for a league fixture.

Why would they lie? Seriously, why?

To cover up the embarrasment of rapidly falling home gates?

And it was more of an observation that a conspiracy theory. Out of interest, do they include all season tickets in the attendance, whether the people actually turn up or not? I know some clubs do.

Hello Guys Im a coventry Fan. Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed my trip to Sheffield, We went into a pub and was made to feel welcome. It was a good result for us but i think if your strikers had finished their chances you would have buried us. well good luck for the rest of the season

We don't do goals. :)

Was impressed by Cov's support. Far more than for many a year. Any particular reason?

and i'm not having a go or trying to get a rise... but where do all the singers in attendance on Saturday hide at the Ricoh? :)

The attendance at BL always includes all season ticket holders, whether present or not, so me and puppy dog weren't there on Saturday, but would have been counted.
