I hate 442, think we’re crying out for a 532 or a 343
The 4 at the back does suit McCallum better, I think we need some more rewind 10 years athleticism within the squad to have some other formations, problem with a 3-4-3 is who do we have as the other 2 in the 3 as it were, as we tried that with sticking Cannon on the left and failed miserably. I think the 5-3-2 could work though.

I was thinking of having a focal point in Bamford with either 2 10’s who can also go wide (hopefully that makes sense). I struggle to see any patterns in play whenever we play 442, don’t think it suits o’hare or Hamer imo as they have to play wide

Can tell I’m not at work today lol. I wouldn’t mind us setting up like this with the squad we’ve got. I don’t rate any of our wingers and I hate when we get outplayed in midfield. McCallum can obviously come in for Burrows but I think having 5 atb would help Burrows look like the player he used to be imo.

*haven’t seen enough of Donovan but realistically we need 2 on each side for the full season

Wasn't one injured/ill the other week?

Zatterstrom is behind an academy graduate who was part of a poor Rotherham side that went down to league two..
I get if Wilder just didn't fancy him last season when he came in, but surely he's worth a bit of a closer look in pre season? He comes with a decent pedigree, and whilst I'm happy to be surprised by Baptiste (look at Seriki who similarly was in a struggling Rotherham side), I hold out hope Zatterstrom could still be a good player at this level.

Huddersfield played an Academy side 2nd half. Most of there first team (May, Fletcher, Wallace, Taylor etc) are at Fleetwood so even the first half was only a few senior players. It was very much a 2nd string Hudds team.
That explains it then. Mind you, we've struggled against worse. 😂

Wouldn't mind that. But for 3 at the back we'd need centre backs that are good on the ball, not McGuinness types.

Baptiste isn't really a academy graduate ,we brought him in at 21 ,always impressed by him he's big strong quick and can play a bit ,not really fair to label him with 10 others at rothers

Well, that big rectangle thingy is called the penalty area, sometimes referred to as the penalty box.
Within that is a smaller rectangular thingy called the 6 yard box.
I think I'm right in saying we're not allowed in the rectangular thingies with the ball very often.
🤣🤣🤣
You’re nearly right there.
I think the actual rule is, it’s got to cross the halfway line into the opponent’s half and then be returned to our keeper on each occasion. Then, if we still have the ball it can be speculatively hoofed in the direction of the other team’s rectangular thingy - whether we have any players there or not.

I saw him in a u21 game last August and he looked like he could work the doors in any lively city centre pub bit of a unit compared to the others who are yet to fill out. Still would call anyone who is a u21 player academy myself.

Completely agree, I think it would be easier to get 2 good centre backs than 2 wingers especially on our budget
