Obviously the odds are against us, we're without two of our better players also.

We are however on the cusp of being in the same league as these and with promotion all but secured for is thus fixture is an opportunity to just go out and enjoy some football. There's only financial gains to be lost here. Alright yeah, a cup final and potential win would be outstanding especially if we end up securing prem too but the main focus is securing that prem spot. They're a win away and with that on their shoulders they can just enjoy the least amount of pressure we've had for a while.

Burnley looked to me like they just went for Man City from the off and they didn't do bad, till the inevitable opening up at the back and then it was game over. I expect we'll set up differently bit more defensive and slower which might reduce the goals.

Either way I'm looking forward to the day out, a stress free match for me this and I get to watch one of the best teams in the world play City 😉

I just have a feeling we will do it, underdogs since Wrexham game, no one giving us a chance. Hopefully because no on likes us we just might upset the media circus

Not sure whether he will stick with Davies or not. Anel might not be available. Sharp could get a start.

Anyway:

Wes/Davies

Anel/Baldock Egan Robbo

Baldock/Bogle Lowe

Norwood

Berge Fleck

McBurnie/Sharp Ndiaye

71-years-old and acting like someone who's seven? That's quite something even for this Forum and its history of sad acts from other clubs.

City destroyed 8-0.Or,I suppose more likely,a 3-2 win to United.Robbo scoring a couple and Billy coming on in the 72nd minute and scoring the winner and his 250th in the 94th minute. That's my dream and they do come true you know.
Anyway,it's about time we won the cup again.UTB.

Going to watch tomorrow from behind a pillow (don't worry, I'm not going tomorrow so won't have my pillow confiscate by Wembley security)

I fear a humiliation. The more I think about our midfield the more scared I get.

Billy has already scored over 250 goals for league AND cup games. He has scored 249 LEAGUE goals so far

This is very much David vs Goliath, Rocky vs Drago.

Nobody even gives us an outside chance.

But they are men. They are exceptional men. But they are men and men can be hurt. Men have weaknesses.

Maybe they are tired from playing later and from the hassle and fatigue of travelling.

No doubt we need much to go our way. But we are Sheffield United. We are not some non-league cloggers who can’t put a pass together. We are a club that associates itself with grit and determination. Run harder, work harder. Maybe today, we can do. Maybe they’re tired. Tired minds make mistakes. Maybe they rest too many and they don’t get going.

It could be anything. But this is our Cup Final. We can raise our games because of that. Bayern-Sheffield United-Arsenal; is it really the one they raise their performance above all others?

Look at when Burnley came to town, very much in the City mould. Well maybe they have the same weaknesses? Get Robbo launching the ball into their box and get McBurnie roughing them up and Ahmedhodzic attacking the ball. A new baby on the way, a few recent overhead kicks just missing. What better day to do it!

Some have said Ortega is a better shot stopper. But how is how on crosses? How is he being roughed up?

Maybe, just maybe, they don’t like it up ‘em, this City side? Your Bayerns and Madrids, they’re too arrogant to do anything other than try to out-football City. But perhaps the basics of men v men is where we get into them. How tall are they? Phillips and Gundogan are both short for example. Berge and Coulibaly (if he plays) are not. Perhaps we just make it a physical battle and as long as we stay the right side of the law, this might just be our way in.

Who knows? But if they are expecting an easy tie or for us to just let them out-football us without giving them something to think about, well, perhaps they are in for a surprise. We know what David did to Goliath and what Rocky did to Drago. So who knows? Maybe it’s not a surprise they’re in for, but a shock!

Come on you Red and White Wizards!!!

It’s not beyond impossible to imagine us scoring today.

5 -1 to City I think.

That’s what the Wigan fans said and they were partly correct they got the 1 right. UTMB you never know

As a Man City fan who first went to Maine Road in 1975, I definitely give the Blades a chance. If pushed, I'd still back City to win (and voted for that option in the Blue Moon poll that's been discussed on here), but it's not a foregone conclusion by any means.

As everyone knows, this match for us falls between vital midweek fixtures away to Bayern and then at home to Arsenal. There looked to be clear fatigue among the players in the last fifteen minutes in Munich on Wednesday and, while Guardiola's team selections are notoriously hard to predict, it seems inconceivable that he won't make several changes. And the thing is that City's quality in depth isn't all it's cracked up to be.

This season, Pep has fielded 22 players in total in Premier League games, fewer than any other team in the competition, but he's trusted only 18 players to start games. One of that core group of 18 was sent out on loan in January and not replaced, while another is an 18-year-old kid who didn't have a senior appearance before this season. So basically, there's an excellent first 16 plus a very competent back-up 'keeper. (This endorsement is probably the kiss of death for him - watch him throw a couple in his own net now!). Unfortunately for us, when we get beyond that, the drop-off is immense.

For instance, Kalvin Phillips, who may well play today and who I thought would be a good acquisition for us, has been a disaster so far. Cole Palmer, a young prospect who was expected to blossom in this campaign, doesn't seem to have made the progress hoped for. Sergio Gomez, a cut-price young full-back from Anderlecht on whom we took a punt so far hasn't looked good enough for what we need. When those three came on against Leicester with around 25 minutes left last week, a comfortable 3-0 lead that looked quite feasible for us to extend turned into a slightly nervy 3-1 win in which our opponents were rather unlucky not to score more.

So if these guys start today, I'll very much have it in mind that the Blades can get at City. And if they don't start but are brought on to replace tired players whose fatigue has meant they haven't imposed themselves on the game to the degree that City would have liked, it will mean you have a realistic hope of getting back into the game if we're talking about a narrow City lead, of taking control if things are level, or of holding on if you're already in front.

Of course, it may not pan out like that. City are a top side and may just have a bit too much. But the Blades definitely have more than an outside chance at the very least. Anyway, whatever happens, I look forward to seeing you go on and clinch promotion and then to two league fixtures next season.
