Sheffield United - The Complete Record

Quite a few of us bought this book on offer at The Works. Unfortunately, it only goes up to 2011-12 but I've updated the important bits to download, print & enjoy.

Don't mention it.

Very, very good effort and much appreciated (better not be any mistakes in it though). There was a cock up on the United page in one of the Rothmans' books (I know it's changed name but I'm not calling it that) and it didn't half stick in my craw.

Very difficult to get all the facts together. For example, this page on the OS reckons only 20 players appeared for us last season yet I reckon 28. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for one, doesn't appear. Neither does J C-R or Collins. Wikipedia is the usual den of misinformation. I just went over every game (in all comps) on the OS, crowds, line-ups, subs etc. Triple-checked, swore mightily when I realised that a shirt number may re-appear after a player has left and it's given to another player, rubbed my eyes in disbelief at, say, Matt Hill wearing the number '0' (home to Fulham in the Cup), burned the midnight oil and now I'm gonna get a life!

I'll no doubt add more sections but some of it is just too arcane. 'Maiden name of mother of every United mascot since WW1' (made that one up) and 'Colour of hoops of socks between the Wars.' (and that one!) :D

Interesting work :), I'd started something similar, but along with many other things ended up leaving due to a lack of time :D

Thanks!

Strangely, it was a lengthy (about a month), interesting and therapeutic task. I must be Eric Lomax. Looking back at every fixture over the last three years made me realise certain things such as:

The casual sale of certain players can have a far-reaching impact. Harry, obviously but one off my favourites - Quinn. I know some on here didn't rate him, but he's not done too bad has he? Losing Blackman was a grievous blow IMHO but so was McDonald - just one game into the 2013-14 season. Coady broke up a steady partnership with Collins and both Collins and Doyle have proved, appearance-wise, to be excellent pros. Clough wouldn't agree, preferring players who might make a Damascene rising from the fitness table.

Also apparent was our total inability to show any consistency and our knack of losing to teams we should be dispatching.

And Clough was 'Tinkerman'. The swapping, changing and sheer volume of team and subs. was incredible. Here's hoping for calmer waters and a pleasant embarkation under NA.

Thanks for the info :)
With some of the contributors on here it is more like Sheffield United the broken record :)

Absolute top effort their grafikhaus, fantastic. I didn't realise both Nigel's had the same middle name Howard, weird!

And on Page 266(B) - 'Managers' - you'll notice there's plenty of space after Chris Wilder for another 2 or 3 managers. Should take us up to the end of next season. :D

Yeah, really great effort that, copying from the Programme... :D

Brilliant GH.

Harry C's goals have got into Samir's column.

I've only recently discovered this thread and would like to add my thanks to Grafikhaus for his great work in preparing these updates. Thank you!
