And so we get to the point. Cheap flights, cheap airlines. Ryan air are by far the worst airline I have flown. I've flown internally on Kazakhstan and Russia, but I always felt safe. I've only ever felt at risk with easyjet, Ryanair and jet2 and one flight on air Astana when the chute activated when we arrived at schipol. The crew of all of those listed gave no confidence, they had no care for passengers but that was safety.

Cheap flights attract idiots, sadly. A bus journey is generally 10-30 mins, a flight 1-5 hours in Europe. Quite a difference when you're sitting next to a tosser

Yes but I'm sure the person sat next to you will come to like you when he gets to know you:)

But why? I don't get all the hate personally - I approach it in the same manner as getting a bus - it gets you there reasonably cheaply but at the expense of sycophantic customer service.

Fair enough if people have experiences of cancelled/delayed flights... it puts a downer on things. But I don't think Ryanair are statistically any worse than the others and I don't see as much venom aimed towards Jet2 etc.

I think some peoples' complaints can be more correctly attributed to their inability to read.

Airport 50 miles away from where you thought it was? Poor planning. There's these wonderful things called Google Maps which, revolutionary idea I know, actually show you where places are!

Forget to print/lost your boarding pass? Honestly?! Print a dozen copies at work like everyone else does and stash them in every pocket.

Charged for excess hand luggage? The restrictions are 55 x 40 x 20cms and no more than 10kgs. It's not a secret. It's here look: http://www.ryanair.com/en/terms-and-conditions#regulations-cabinbaggage Tape measures and weighing scales are your friends.

Food on the plane too expensive? Take your own food on! No one is holding you at gunpoint.

They can be shitty... but no worse than anyone else and half the price. We got to Barcelona for £90 return and Ireland for £35.

Got to agree. We have done Ryanair, Easyjet. Jet 2 etc and never had any major problems. If I was going long er flights then of course want some level of comfort/customer service etc. Granted on the budget ones, you get some idiots, the customer service is poor and comfort is not great but if I am only flying 2 or 3 hours at most and I can save 2 or 300 quid for sake of some those things; I'll do it every time. They have one aim for me. Get me from point A to point B safely and as quick as possible. I am not sure any of the budget airlines have any significant record of air disasters or particularly bad for delays (no worse than many major airlines)?

That money I save then normally pays for or goes towards hotel where I am staying of which I don't tend to go as cheap. For the sake of the time you are on there and what you are doing (eg sat there and cant move) I fail to see why it is so important to be so comfortable, ravished with great food. Eat something before you get on, go to the loo before you get on and just stick your I pod on, listen to some music and then get off. Is it that hard?

I have booked flights for 3 of us for £200 return to Pisa (going to Florence) in a month. Course if it is awful then I will be the first to come on here and slag em off and say I was wrong.

I found them a nightmare I had to use them as needed the times for business purpose, sat with a pilot on the way out oh and yes he paid for his seat, the one thing I can not get my head round is this free seating it takes forever to board and for people to take there seats, the pilot said its one thing he can not understand as they are under so much pressure to be on time.

We did Easyjet to Pisa when we went to Florence, easy connection on the train to Florence. Just don't dedicate the full day to Pisa on your return, did the tower etc, even wandered round Pisa FC, but other than that there's not much to do :)
