Shea Charles

Backs up my thoughts on why Charles would work so well here.
He shares most of the defensive qualities of Souza but a lot more progressive in his passing and carrying.
I think they'd work really well together.

Choudhury's stats are very similar to Souza's defensively, but he doesn't go forwards at all. So we'd be relying on Souza to pick up those duties which I'm not sure he's that comfortable with.

Agree with all that and the combined defensive qualities would afford us more protection of a back four that looks more vulnerable than when Souttar was the lynchpin.

We also had all the takeover uncertainty maybe it was during a period where we weren’t prepared to sanction anymore deals.

Wilder says himself we were left a bit light in areas after the summer in window. That said the amount that of players that went out of the door was hard to replace in one go.

It's interesting that we've had problems so it seems trying to sign BBD but are now looking to sign another Southampton player in Charles and are trying to sign Cannon from Leicester after having problems signing Choudhury! All different deals of course.

The point about his turning us down in the summer, was probably more a case of him choosing to work with Rohl, from the options in front of him, due to his reputation in Southampton. He will have had a lot of suitors.

Half way through January and not one player signed not looking good

The exact same thing was said towards the end of July24.
Loads of players had left, with very few coming in.
Many Blades predicted that with a squad of 15 players we were risking relegation.

Now I’m no brain surgeon but I knew that we had loads of irons in the fire resulting in loads of players being signed late in the window.
The problem you find is that the better players have loads of options so tend to leave it late hoping for an auction.
I was proven right as we made loads of excellent signings a week or 2 before the season started.

It’s the same in this window. There’s still 2 weeks left and we’ll be substantially stronger by the end of the window.
I have zero inside information but let’s see if my prediction is again correct.

The only issue that I do agree with…is that we could do with some players asap.
If we still have injuries on Saturday with a weak bench and fail to beat Norwich then fans will rightly criticise the club regards delays in signings.

Seen him once, he played in a team that created 0 shots on target against us. Is he actually good or is just good for their level of expectation?

Amusing as all this is, have Southampton even confirmed that they've recalled him yet? The only source for it is Chansiri and he's a mental case.

Been reported about in paper that he's been recalled, but then again that could just be picked up from Mr chansiri last night.

Recalled but there is a seven day window apparently from recall and he can play v Leeds

Second most tackles in the league and scores slightly higher than Souza for defencive mids this season, in what I think is a shhhhhhite side.

I thought he stood out that day as their best player. His job is not really creating, though I think he has 4 assists this year.

We only had one shot on target against them, we were at home and we are a better side overall. So in many respects he did his job very well as we never got in a rhythm to attack them with any consistency.

Be funny if we sign him next couple of days but he’s actually still eligible to turn out for the snorters for the next two and they all desperately want him to play despite knowing he’s a blade 🤣

He's 9th on the OVERALL sofascore average rating list

When he's not heavy on goals and assists, doesn't take set pieces, and is playing in a very average side, that's notable

When you look at Wednesday's league position and look at their squad, it's obvious there must be the odd quiet reason they're doing well - and he seems the most likely one

4 or 5 assists isn't too shabby for a DCM either is it?

Tommy Black played for us and Wednesday in the 04/07 season.
