Sounds like there’s a personal feud between SWFC and Southampton and I reckon it started when Chansiri refused permission for Rohl to speak to them.

Agree but I was referring to the interest from Southampton from mid December 24.
I remember when another club showed interest in Wilder, the Prince dealt with it by announcing how important Wilder was and gave him a pay rise to prove it.

I suppose Chansiri probably thought he’d just given him a pay rise, so this wasn’t needed.
Chansiri didn’t seem too keen on praising Rohl last night, does make you wonder that something has gone off.
He said the last time he spoke to Rohl was in September, seems like they’ve not spoke since the Southampton approach. That’s weird.

It could certainly be inferred, that if he had a choice between Us and Them, and he chose them, then he did 'turn us down', from a certain point of view.

His younger brother Pierce Charles has been the goalie at Sheff Wed since 2022 and just had a contract extension last season.
They are both northern lads originally from Manchester, both from the Man City Academy, so you would expect Sheffield to be a good location for both.

You can imagine from a personal point of view, it’s nice for him to be able to go into work with his kid brother.
If everything is equal, then surely most people would join their brothers club and no doubt his brother would have sold SW to him.

So once you know the background then it wouldn’t surprise me if he chose SW over SU as a loan option.
Also remember at the start of the season he could expect regular 1st team starts at SW, where at SU he would be seen as a squad player.
If there’s a chance of anything helping his career and boosting his bank account, then of course he’ll agree to move to United.

Not really, this season he’s shown himself to be an upper Championship level defensive midfielder. We need a defensive midfielder to give Peck a deserved rest.

Looks like our 1st choice is Choudhury at Leicester and would imagine we’re tying in the Cannon deal at the same time
But if things go pear shaped regards Choudhury then it’s always good to have a plan B option.
Also Charles is quite young, big and physical with potential, so he’s likely to improve.
Basically Choudhury has experience and is for the here and now where as Charles will be good for the now, but Wilder might think he has a big future in the game.
Also it helps that we already have open negotiations with Southampton regards BBD, so it’s logical for us to ask about the Charles situation.

Not sure him enjoying it at Wednesday is relevant. He’s a professional and does what’s best for his career and bank balance.
Besides I’m sure he’d enjoy it equally as much at United.
