It's staged acting, Jesus, if it wasn't he'd break his legs!
Why do you think most "Wrestlers" go into acting!!??
Or are you 10 too?

The outcome is predetermined. That's about as fake as it gets I'm afraid.

What happens in the ring is more akin to a dance. The main priority is to work together with your opponent without seriously injuring them. But when they perform moves on each other it really does hurt and kicks and punches do make contact. People think wrestling mats are like bouncy castles but they're a lot more unforgiving than that. Trust me, it fucking hurts.

Physically, it's one of the most insanely brutal professions there is. People just don't realise how tough these people are and what they put themselves through.

You say he would've broken his legs if it was real, well sadly a lot of them do. And worse. People have lost their lives in the ring.

Most wrestlers have very long injury lists and often have to work while injured on a regular basis.

All this on top of the ridiculous travelling schedules (wrestling never stops, it keeps rolling 365 days a year) is the reason a lot of them end up with alcohol and drug dependencies. This is reason for the ridiculous amount of wrestlers who pass away at a young age, either by taking their own lives or because their bodies simply give up.

All of this is why it's disrespectful to call what they do fake or staged acting. That's why wrestlers often slap the shit out of people who say these things to their faces.

Excellent post Sir.

Not watched it for years but used to enjoy it for what it was. It is as staged and scripted as any soap opera, but a lot of the moves are high risk and there is often blood, and many of the injuries are real although some are scripted for the purposes of a particular storyline.

It is what it is. They are no more sportsmen than a movie stuntman is.

If you mean the outcome is predetermined then you're absolutely right. Nobody denies that.

Fake? No way.

Go and get in a wrestling ring old man.

You'd get fucking killed.

For someone who doesn’t watch it you are remarkably fervent. Go on, who’s your favourite? Please tell us. Which ones do you boo and heckle? Do you carry a card with some steroid-pumped hulk’s catchphrase on and hold it up at ringside?

I knew it. I absolutely knew it.

Keep your head down though, they’re still looking for you.

It's fake mate. He doesn't really jump off the top of that rigging.

I used to be a big fan when I was younger but like I said, I don't watch it anymore.

And I think they're still looking for you for calling Chris Wilder a non entity, Fleck a shit footballer and for predicting David fucking Weir to get us automatic promotion.

That’s fair enough. Let’s not kid ourselves though, that it’s anything other than a scripted, rehearsed circus with the results determined in advance. One thing it most certainly is not and that’s a sport.
I'm tempted to have today's date tattooed on my person somewhere, the date I agreed with Pinchy!;):D

A couple of summers ago we had a family holiday to Cornwall and as part of the entertainment they had a wrestling show, complete with a wrestling ring.

I’d been on the Cornish Rattler all day and was happily marry where there was a big family of Council estate scratters, and the Grandmother was absolutely fucking paralytic and got in to it a bit too much, so he took off her shoes and ran towards the wrestler to hit him with it, only to slip and shatter her leg. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

I had to get the wife to explain it to me, strangely Mrs Foody knows all about wrestling.

Yes, most of your favourite steroid junkies are dead now. So I’ll gladly take them on in the squared circle.

Now then, how did I know you’d be a wrestling fan?...

Very much a thing of the 90s. Along with describing something as “a bit gay” as it turns out, though don’t tell that to those still living in the past.

I used to watch it when I was younger, and generally look back at it fondly as nostalgia from that era. Like watching Neighbours, or Jostein Flo.

I'm guessing then, that you've watched the film "WRESTLER", a film that Nicky Rourke played The Ram.
If you read abit it, he did his homework on his role, by talking to many wrestlers that were past and present at the time.
I'm not disagreeing they don't get hurt, but, the bouts are rehearsed, the winner is pre determined, the outcome is fixed. It isn't real in the sense that it's a show, it's all about acting and ratings.
Boxing is a totally different affair, the damage caused/sustained is clear for all to see, the winner is the one left standing, or the one with the highest points, hence, reality.

I'm not a wrestling fan. I've said that three times now.

What was the name you used to call our John that never took off? Little Flecker?

You're a fool.

Nobody claims that wrestling is a sport though.

And everybody knows that it is predetermined and not a real fight.

So what's your point?

Even though I know who Mick Foley is and am totally familiar with the reference.....I still ask myself why? So random but whatever :)

You've just pointed it out by contradicting yourself and saying exactly what I have been, "NOT A REAL FIGHT"...........Not Real!

It took time, but atleast you finally admitted it yourself.
So why ask "what's your point", when you know exactly, as you've pointed out my point for me!?
