Outgoing? Sharp to Celtic

Is it a bigger bucket than the clear load of evidence to the contrary:
  • Appoints Sharp captain as one of his first acts under no pressure to do so
  • Builds League 1 winning team with Sharp at the heart of it, developing a system that sees Sharp score his joint best total ever with 30 goals. Rewarded with new two-year deal.
  • Builds Championship promotion-winning team with Sharp the main striker, seeing Sharp score his highest return at that level in his career. Had option to extend
  • Had option to automatically extend contract for one year, instead hands Sharp two-year deal in February 2019
  • Ever-present in matchday squad in 2019/20 despite new signings up front. Publicly backed at every opportunity by Wilder in the media.

.....and ;)

Facts? He won't like that

He'll answer it with a riddle. Then maybe a ;) or a 👀. Signing off with UTB !!

Yeah but because he wouldn’t build a PL team around the 33 year old he’s now a prick and Billy’s Mary Poppins.

L1 I’ll give you.

First season back in Champ. Started as 3rd choice behind Leon and Clayton. Consistently played 2nd fiddle to Leon. Also bizarrely James Wilson on occassion. Proved the gaffer wrong and was first choice by season end.

2nd season. Started as 3rd choice behind Leon and Didz. Again, proved the manager wrong and was first choice in the end.

PL- 4th (maybe 5th) choice. Hardly a sniff. Pitifully dismissed for players who’s price tags MUST be justified. By seasons end ........

😉.

i cant believe we are so ready for him to leave, he still turns out for us (albeit from bench), he is our captain and he is a club legend. Just imagine the dressing room without him... that is why he is indispensable

I could only see him leaving for the states or china for big money should they come calling, before a swift return to bdtbl for coaching duties upon retiring

Bash says he's the most important member of the squad.

Good enough for me.

Get that bootroom team built.

If that’s the level of your insight, I think that settles it. So clearly wrong I’m not even going to bother pointing you in the direction of the lineups for August.

But here’s an emoji, as you like those 🤪
You’re right. My bad !!

Didn’t play in around 25%-30% of the total league games that season, and that wasn’t all down to injury though.

If we get the striker in that Wilder wants this window, Billy will go up the road and play some Championship football for a manager who appreciates what he brings to the table.

A manager widely regarded as among the best in the world.

Big mates with Liam Cooper and a few others up there.

UTB
If he's one of the best in the world what's he doing fucking about at Leeds then?

I don’t think we’ll be bringing any strikers in, and have seen nothing in the past month to suggest otherwise, and no amount of “Blades linked with striker - exclusive from TrnsfrSh8” type stories is going to convince me for the time being.

Pre-Brighton interview

Wilder: “actively looking at bringing 2 or 3 players, not big changes, to give us a lift and strengthen the squadthe papers would like you to believe there will be a dozen people coming in. There are certain positions we’re looking at.”

Giddings: “Midfield and defensive reinforcements, are they more of a priority than up front?”

Wilder: “yeah”

Pre-Liverpool interview

“Billy’s a fantastic player, he doesn’t want to go anywhere and I don’t want him to go anywhere. So as far as I’m concerned that’s the end of the conversation with him.”

Wilder today couldn’t be clearer.

“I spoke to him about three weeks ago about it, knowing what would come up in January," said Wilder.

"And rightly so. If I was in the Championship and needed someone to give us a boost in January and score us some goals between now and the end of the season and saw that Bill Sharp wasn't playing at Sheffield United then I would be asking the question.

"Always the decision is with Billy. Obviously from an individual point of view, Billy is disappointed he's not playing.

"The decision is with him and if he comes to me and says he needs to be playing then I will respect that. But we need him here as well between now and the end of the season so our need is just as big, if not bigger, as those clubs in the Championship."

Apart from they play with one up front (Bamford) - hence why Nketiah got such little game time. Sharp would be a sub unless Bielsa changed formation for certain games.
Fair point, but Bielsa will make room for Billy, or someone similar. Lack of a goalscorer is the only threat to promotion this year.

Watching them the other night I thought they could really do with a proper finisher. He’ll be their equivalent of Madine, someone to get them over the line.
But not in a Cardiff shirt as it stands.

I’ll wait for the clammer to “gerrhimin” !!

Maybe so (and I agree about their lack of goals being a threat to promotion) but if Bielsa didn't make room in the team for Nketiah, why would he do so for Sharp?

But Chris, he's off to Celtic, keep up.

Once again, as soon as I listen to CW, I feel completely at ease with all things SUFC. He's like that comforting arm round the supporters shoulder.

Good job Wilder don't post on here, some would have nothing to type bollocks about.

I just feel Billy will stay he's said to have knocked back Celtic & is it Forest last week.

There has been some debate about his value in this thread... this guy places a value of 6m on billy. I appreciate that this site isn't very reliable, but would you place him in the 6m bracket? I know it's all just made up values for clicks, but it did make me think that actually it may be a fair price.

Would you pay £6m for a 34, (in a couple of weeks) year old striker.....no, neither would I.

If we got £1m for him I would be gobsmacked!

Either way I don't think he will go anywhere permanently, loan if anything.
