The theme to Mash of course ,I was never deeply into Mash but my Dad was it was always on and the song stayed with me. Really into the Manics atm cant wait to see them in May ,massively under rated band I think.

The early stuff is up there with anything anyone else has ever done, but the later stuff doesn't cut it for me.

They are great live, although I've not seen them for a few years.

We've been in this league 5 years so one more wont hurt. If we clear out the crap left from other managers and let Adkins bring in his own men it'll be a totally different season next season.

Who in there right mind is going to match or increase our current players wages? The players arn't going to leave for less so will be happy to sit it out until the summer. Look at where the ones have gone on loan, mostly to league two clubs and they won't be paying 100% of wages. The same would apply to the likes of jmac, Collo,Long, bash, JCR, scougall, Flynn, etc etc we'd make a very good l2 side but nowhere near good enough for promotion out of this league. we're stuck with what we've got until the summer when we can replace. Clough spunked the budget on average players and it can't be fixed until the summer.

Bit of patience needed here, as hard as it is to take.

In theory this sounds fine, but there is just one cloud hanging over your argument, the signings Adkins has made so far, Billy Sharp aside, have only carried on previous managers signings. The prospect of Adkins signing another 8 players similar to Edgar, Hammond, Sammon and Woolford does not fill me with confidence one bit. Signing young, hungry, economically attractive players (both in terms of package to sign them and potential resale value) who have done it at L1, such as the two Wigan have just signed is the route to go down. I'm sure some apologists will argue it isn't quite as simple of this, but from my outside ignorant simplistic point of view, it seems a no brainer.

It's poor buys and lack of investment. Our Board is a complete and utter disgrace. The pig owner is showing what meaningful investment and making genuine and realistic bids can do for a club. Losing out on players because we won't match £200k bids from the likes of f'kin Wigan shows how low we have sunk.

Reading between the lines I think Adkins decided to go down the line of Hammond and rightfully or wrongly ( wrongly in my view) hasn't been interested in Morsy this JTW.

Adkins and SUFC issue whilst we still have a good chance of hitting the play offs this season , is we are trying to deal with and balance the requirements of all issues , short , medium , and long term. There is method in Adkins madness with Hammond . He is the leader who will wear the arm band and who which hopefully a vibrant hungry quality side will be built around ( along with Billy and Brayford ) .

This strategy will be carried out either in league 1 or the championship.

If this fails next season , being mercenary about it , Adkins tenture moving forward will be question not only by U.S. Patient fans , but by the board . We deserve some planned strategy success, not relying on percentage luck. Good management is the key , let's hope Adkins is the man.

My worry is on current form Mr Adkins may clear all the dross out in the summer and replace them with dross who have played for him before eg Hammond & Woolford
Whilst I was not in favour of sacking Mr Clough I was originally pleased with Mr Adkins as a replacement - Unfortunately, his past record of success seems to be just that PAST and his present performance is distinctly average !
On whilst I'm on a roll his pre match post match interviews full of cliches and bullshit have worn pretty thin - I'm not that interested any more in claptrap and corporate speak.
Actions speak louder than words Mr Adkins so shut up and start showing the paying fans what you are paid to do - Deliver promotion this year !

I think the method is obvious, Dean Hammond played for him 6 years ago in L1 and won promotion, Dean Hammond isn't get a kick at Leicester. Let's sign him. Problem is he's 6 years older and unfortunately his legs look as if they're tiring.

Hammond shows he used to be a good player and I do like his meaty challenges he makes but unfortunately I've seen him ran ragged by younger and fitter players.

I'm sure he's probably a good influence in the dressing room but we need to sign players who are fitter and sharper than their opposite number to win individual battles. I think that's more important than bringing in someone to lecture young Che and Harrison about the benefits of getting a good nights sleep before Rochdale away and eating well.

Wigan have parachute cash to chuck around don't they? Aren't they the richest team in the division?

And btw Sammon is fine.

EH?

Absolute shit player IMO. we are struggling because we choose to give generous deals & contracts to players who do not deserve it. How has Sammon proved his worth to us or even the teams he was with prior to signing?

Hardley tearing up the league is he?

Your a full weight bellend sometimes.

Be fair , Kev Gee , you would expect a Big Member to have a full weight Bellend , now wouldn't you ?

It's questionable how far along the Sammon deal was before Adkins arrived.

Edgar - whilst signed too late is an improvement on what we had.
Woodford - whilst not great isn't awful and I think he was signed as he is always fit and originally thought of as a squad player. Probably played more games than he or Adkins was expecting.
Sharp - we can all agree that one has worked out.
Hammond - hit and miss but results have been better with him in the team.

Taking Sammon out of the equation

I think 3 of those have been an improvement on what we had and they are regularly fit for long periods of time.

There were numerous rumours linking us to Woolford before Adkins arrived. Seems to me deals are agreed and these managers hands may be tied. If he decided to sign Woolford on his own judgment, I've lost all faith.

I love how the latest thing to slag Adkins off with is that "He signs his old players".

EVERY manager bloody well does this and you're an idiot if you think that's not the case!

Now leave him alone and let him go and prepare a pre match interview that rythmes, is in 3 different languages, and tells you the honest and personal story of every single player in the squad so it meets people's approval.

Hello David.
May I call you David?
What seems to be the problem?

In this thread, David has used the words echelon and devoid. Both of those are seldom found on here and I applaud his ability to find the mot juste. If he can sort out his syntax and grammar, we've unearthed a diamond in David.

Never managed to find the mot juste myself.

I just hope the Hammond signing was a necessity that we needed i.e. an old pro who could rule the changing room and kick arses instead of letting them sulk whilst they refused to move on.

If we release the number we all know we need to then we might see the bloke on that CV surface next season?

"Diamond Dave", has a nice ring to it?
