Then after five minutes when they realised he was worse on the ball than a Jack Russell on Filey beach they stopped worrying.I still think when Burke first came in for us his pace legitimately made sides back off and create more space for us. Not necessarily a bad thing!
Wilder might go to a back 3 with this one. Will end up being both now.

Gi ore lad. Seriki was getting assists for fun for the under-21s. The lads still learning and I'm sure that final bit will come.I’m generally still high on Seriki but I fear he reminds me a bit of Oli Burke at times.

Changed the game today and pocketed that Watson lad who was ragging Gilchrist
Don’t get me wrong, I really like him. The Burke comparison was unfair. I just think his attacking decision making needs work. But if he sorts that, we’re talking about a seriously high-end right back. I fully agree that he covered Watson a lot better than Gilchrist. I actually think Seriki is better defensively than Gilchrist. I just think it’s easy for people to say Gilchrist is better defensively because he feels safer.Overran it a couple of times. But he was our best player in the second half. Never got that from Burke.
It’s not a disaster of a back four - has strength, tenacity, bit of pace, and quality on the ball from the full backs. Will end up being both now.

I agree with all of that. Seriki looks better attacking when he has less to think about.Don’t get me wrong, I really like him. The Burke comparison was unfair. I like being optimistic and I appreciate your point, but in no way will losing Souttar strengthen us.Souttar looked a worry when we signed him as he's got the turning circle of the Titanic but he's always positioned himself well to compensate for it until the past week when he's been horribly exposed by quick movement around him, now he's taken himself out of the team and it might actually strengthen us as Seriki and Gilchrist are great (unless Wilder loses his mind and puts Shackleton at right back)
I thought Gilchrist did well tonight but Seriki was superb also and I think Wilder will have Seriki playing as first choice right back after January because if he does it now Chelsea might recall Gilchrist and then we're having to sign someone else and Gilchrist can cover rcb too. I really like Gilchrist too though.Gilchrist is probably a bit small for a centre-back. But he's so much more mobile than Souttar. And you can see with the way he plays even at RB that he's a CB at heart.
I fully trust him to do the job. He just knows how to defend. He always seems to be in the right place.
Seriki is not a better defender at all, but probably edges it in that specific position, which isn’t Gilchrist’s natural one. As purely a defender, Gilchrist is a long way ahead.I don't see it as that at all
Seriki is the better defender and attacker
Souttar has been brilliant this season - losing him is a massive negative, no way is this a good thing. There are many players who have contributed to us being top right now, but none more so than Souttar.Souttar looked a worry when we signed him as he's got the turning circle of the Titanic but he's always positioned himself well to compensate for it until the past week when he's been horribly exposed by quick movement around him, now he's taken himself out of the team and it might actually strengthen us as Seriki and Gilchrist are great (unless Wilder loses his mind and puts Shackleton at right back)

Gilchrist's positioning and anticipation are much better.Seriki is stronger , faster and more athletic better in the tackle i havent seen Seriki lose one 50/50 yet
very much doubt chelsea will be needing gilchrist back this season but ive no worries about him playing centre back its his natural position anywayI thought Gilchrist did well tonight but Seriki was superb also and I think Wilder will have Seriki playing as first choice right back after January because if he does it now Chelsea might recall Gilchrist and then we're having to sign someone else and Gilchrist can cover rcb too. Souza can drop back in central defence when Seriki bombs forward, Gilchrist can move right. The makeshift back 4 did a better job in the 2nd half v Sunderland than the starting defence in the 1st half.
I think they will be fine against West Brom, provided Souza has another stormer in front of them, which I expect him to do.
