I'd say that's a slight oversimplification of what he said.It wasn’t a defensive issue

I know what he said but to say it at all it that it wasn’t a defensive issue at all is laughableI'd say that's a slight oversimplification of what he said.
TBF, it wasn't just a defensive issue though, but that was a key part of it.It wasn’t a defensive issue

So let me play devils advocate for a moment, given we aren't bringing anyone in imminently in that department it seems. Do you think it's the best strategy for the manager to publicly say yeah the defence were and are shit?I know what he said but to say at all it wasn’t a defensive issue at all is laughable

I mean, the first was a wonder free kick.I'd have to partly agree. The defence got left out to dry by a poor midfield in front of them, two of whom weren't dropping back quickly into position to protect the back four. Burrows was more culpable then the centre backs. A player he left unmarked scored. Two other players had to try to block a cross of a player he was supposed to be marking.
Peck, Hamer and Burrows had more reasons to have the fingers pointed at them than Bindon and RND. All three were defensively woeful against Bristol who ran through us with ease due to them being so high up the pitch. Arguably that could also be a tactical fault that Bristol exploited to great effect.
I’ve not seen us walked through like that for a long time. Even those big hammerings in the premier league the season before last didn’t all come from sides running us like Bristol City did. It felt like we were in danger every time we lost the ballTBF, it wasn't just a defensive issue though, but that was a key part of it.
- Defensive issues
- a lack of protection for the defence due to the absence of a proper CDM, did he get asked why Soumare didn't play?
- not taking chances combined with not having a bit of luck in front of goal, mainly not taking chances
- a mad 6 minutes at the start of the second half where the game was taken away from us and our heads dropped as a result
First was a freekick came from some poor defendingI mean, the first was a wonder free kick.
The second was a break and a great strike following 25 mins camped in their half.
3rd and 4th were both RND with ridiculously poor passes that were nowhere near their intended targets.
He said it was a transitional thing... he's right. It wasn’t a defensive issue

I can't pretend to understand football beyond hoofing it into the channels, but at the start of the second half it seemed pretty clear that they had spotted something tactically in our set up which they thought they could exploit: they seemed to have more players much further forwards, it just looked dangerous.Peck, Hamer and Burrows had more reasons to have the fingers pointed at them than Bindon and RND. All three were defensively woeful against Bristol who ran through us with ease due to them being so high up the pitch. There was a theme that when we lost the ball anywhere on the pitch we seemed to be in danger

I thought he spoke really well to be fair. He addressed the issues at hand and said they need to improve, he took responsibility & didnt make excuses. It wasn’t a defensive issue

I’m not having that. Newcastle, Arsenal, Brighton twice and many many more tore through us left right and centre.I’ve not seen us walked through like that for a long time. If he isn't backed properly he'll probably lose his job and we'll end up bringing in Hecky, Wilder or maybe Monty this time for the rescue job.Personally I don't think we have the right players for the system he wants to play.
If he isn't backed significantly then he will probably have to rethink the formation.
Absolutely nobody seems to understand his point. The defence wasnt the only issue he meant, it was mainly the turnovers. It wasn’t a defensive issue

Completely irrelevantI think the last time was the 3 nil battering from Hull last season, wonder who their manager was.
I thought he spoke really well to be fair. He addressed the issues at hand and said they need to improve, he took responsibility & didnt make excuses.
Worrying thing is I don’t think he understoodAbsolutely nobody seems to understand his point. The defence wasnt the only issue he meant, it was mainly the turnovers.
How I took that he meant when we lost possession, as a team, we didn't recover, track, move or defend in time or well.
I think you’re the one struggling to understand here.Worrying thing is I don’t think he understood
