My guess, Tierney will be cleared & Egan won't.

Apparently this situation hasn't arisen before (player having to self-isolate because of close contact with someone who has tested positive, rather than the player himself testing positive) so there will be a precedent set this weekend. The Athletic did a decent breakdown of it for Egan and Callum Robinson:

The clubs are now awaiting a ruling from the Premier League and the government on whether the league’s strict COVID-19 testing programme means they can shorten the standard 14-day quarantine period. But The Athletic understands the Premier League is unlikely to override government guidelines on self-isolation, meaning Robinson would miss Albion’s meeting with Burnley on Monday and Egan would sit out his side’s game against Fulham a day earlier.

What happened?​

A four-strong group, which also included Bristol City’s Callum O’Dowda and Preston’s Alan Browne, were forced into self-isolation after being identified as ‘close contacts’ of a team-mate who tested positive during training with Ireland in Dublin.

The contact took place last Thursday and government rules to limit the spread of the virus mean the players’ 14-day isolation period must start from that date.

What is the current situation?​

Robinson has managed to return to the Midlands while observing self-isolation rules but is now confined to his home awaiting a ruling from the authorities.

He is unable to train with his team-mates at West Brom or leave his home, in line with government regulations, despite being asymptomatic.

What happens next?​

West Brom have two rounds of COVID-19 testing scheduled between now and their next Premier League game at home to Burnley on Monday and Robinson will be able to participate by conducting home testing.

The club hope that two negative tests mean he will be able to return to training, but the Premier League and the government are expected to confirm he must complete the 14-day quarantine laid down by UK government guidelines.

Egan is understood to be in the same position as Robinson ahead of Sheffield United's game against Fulham this weekend.

West Brom and Sheffield United, however, will argue that the 14-day period is designed for members of the public who come into contact with people with COVID-19 but remain asymptomatic and are therefore not offered tests, but their appeals seem destined to fall on deaf ears.

Why is this case so important?​

This case is understood to be the first of its kind, where players on international duty have been forced into isolation not because of a positive COVID-19 test but because of a close contact with a COVID-positive person.

Whatever ruling the Premier League makes now is likely to set a precedent for any future cases.

TLDR: it's possible but pretty unlikely that Egan will be cleared to play v Fulham. This whole thing once again underlining the utter stupidity of having this international break.

The bit we all may be missing is that one of the four (O'Dowda, Robinson, Browne and Egan) must have tested positive as they're the only ones who have been asked to isolate. It's not a member of backroom staff as it's described as a "team-mate" so it surely must be one of those four.

That said, while Egan might have been better against Mitrovic, Ampadu coming in isn't the worst outcome in the world as he will be better at encouraging us to play 10 yards further up the pitch.

If it's not one of those four, who is it? The only other options are David McGoldrick who came off injured against Slovakia and James McCarthy who was dropped as "injured". It'll be interesting to see when McCarthy recovers from the "tight hamstring" he suffered between the Slovakia and Wales games

I think it might be Jack Byrne who plays for League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers. It's been confirmed that he tested positive while on international duty.
