Only discovered over the past few days that Bristol City have their own ultra-ish singing section down there at Ashton Gate. Worth mentioning as it appears to be the sort of thing that some of our fans are pushing to create at Bramall Lane.

Can't say I heard them over Don Goodman's verbal diarrhoea whilst watching in the pub, but for those who went (or have been before and have seen 'Section 82' in action), what did you think of them? Did it look like the sort of thing we'd want at the Lane or did it come across a bit tinpot? Did they continue to make the noise throughout or did they shut up once they were getting dominated?

Personally I'm all for any sort of movement which aims to improve the atmosphere, but it has to be done right and I think it's worth looking at examples from other clubs to see where we'd like to land. From what I've seen, what Bristol has looks decent. But I've definitely seen certain clubs where it looks and sounds a right mess (I'm looking at you, Wednesday Ultras 😂)

Without a section of safe standing in the South stand to Bramall lane corner and moving them that don’t want to “safe stand” to season tickets in Upper BL, I don’t know where else you would put it. Upper BL you aren’t going to create an atmosphere, Family stand is no good for that type of thing and kop is too far away. Although personally I think the idea is a bit tin pot like free flags and happy clappers

Section 82 was diagonally across from the Blades Section. They certainly stood out from the other fans at that end and in a lot of ways I think it's not a bad idea as people who are less vocal don't have to be mixed in with them.
As with all vocal support it didn't do much once they were losing - particularly when 2 goals down.
Personally I think having the Section completely separate from away fans is good - plonking them next to each other is a bit tinpot.
The prematch 'Victory in Europe' fan display was a nice idea but undermined by having a similar display of red and wide stripes down one side of the ground. It seemed to be a bit of an accidental insult in my eyes. Should have been one or the other - not both together

I'd stick it in the wonky McCabe corner if it was to happen. It's sparsely populated unless there's a big game and any ST holders could be relocated to the corner on the opposite side of the ground. Next to gangway G which is where much of the Kop noise is generated as well. Should be easy enough to pack out and if it's a success over a sustained period of time then the club could look at relocating it so it can grow. If it flops then you've not messed with any of the more popular stands.

Could safe standing be implemented on that corner with it being a more modern stand than the Kop, I wonder?

I couldn’t believe how good the view was from the Pukka Pie corner, sat there for the Basham game. I wonder if it’s standing does that make the restricted view less of an issue

Thought they out sung us, even at 0-1 down.

The section next to us were loud, and those in the corner made a lot of noise, albeit they were far away from us.

Lots standing around the stadium, really supportive fans at 0-0 and 0-1 down. Good to see tbh.

Quite possibly, but if you're going down the sort of ultra-ish route, it'd need to be packed with people who are more arsed about having a sing-song than watching the game anyway.

I thought this would be a post about bringing back blades news and their bonfires on the kop! They certainly warmed up the atmosphere in the dark days of the early 80s.

On having an Ultra section, has anyone thought about have 11 players playing attacking football, it always seamed to work in the past?

They looked like a reyt bunch of tallywackers when they were shouting at Hamer on corners to move the ball an inch.

Let’s just face it that English fans doing stuff like this just look a bit wank and let’s leave it to supporters in countries that actually know how to do it properly.

So long as we don't have a lad with a toy megaphone at the front of the stand like Boro

Here is a Bristol City video I watched, looks like they do have an organised area for singing etc.. I am all for it.
I thought the Crystal Palace fans at Wembley were outstanding in their organisation and created a fantastic atmosphere at Wembley.

Be better off putting the moaning old duffers in the corner, along with all the soggy rice-pudding heads and wet fannies and let everyone else stand up, jump up and down, act giddy and get behind the team, like in the good old days, when said killjoys exclusively inhabited the John Street terrace seats.

Completely agree re palace fans. Got a few Palace mates (not their "ultras") and they said the club worked with fans to agree which sections to sell to fans wanting to be involved in all that stuff to make sure they were all together. Was only a couple of blocks but, because they were constantly singing from that area, it just spread around the rest.

I also know from a Leeds mate that they did the same (sections 111 and 112) when they were there last season.

Would be good if we did something like this and said if you want to be in a "singing area", buy tickets in blocks x & y if we get there).

⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️

If anyone from the club is reading, please consider this seriously

Failing any coordinated effort, fans like this should just get tickets in the standing area behind the goal. So that makes it much easier than it used to be

I think they were set up to prevent opposition players pinching a few inches when taking corners

They were good last night, and also back in November. They get in and fill the corner early and start making a noise well before kick-off. the vlogs from their games show they make a noise fairly consistently, including when they concede, but obviously that's not audible from the away end when we're celebrating a goal. It's a really good effort. The only downside IMO is the massive flag they wave about. If I were in there, that'd get right on my tits, but I'm often told about my grumpiness with such things.

They are basically what Coventry fans in their corner think they are, but aren't
