Second on MOTD

Absolutely. I thought at the time that it was a typical Baldock ‘dive’ where he puts his body in, goes over but then gets up quickly to make it look like he hasn’t dived.

I imagine that Baldock, being the player he is, would tell you there was little in it.
Yes, in the post match show (YouTube) , Furious says he felt contact and went down.
That is soft, and not what I want penalties to be, but that's what they are these days.
Other matches, jug ears and his mates all say 'he felt contact and went down' , when it's the in-team. So tough shit to them, this week it went our way for once.

Nobody mentioned that Silvas studs roll over the ball and contact is made with Archer’s boot.

I think the fact he had the dig at Archer and Baldock in the space of seconds influences the ref and he can only blame himself IMO.

Both soft in isolation but we see them given, usually to the elite not minnows like us. Imagine Grealish, Salah, Maddison, Saka etc they’d go down all day long on both of those as there was contact.

And no mention of our other two strong penalty claims. Wankers.
Or the corner or goal kick we should have had both these were not shown, but of course if they were it changes the narrative that we got all the luck.

Danny Murphy can do one saying Baldock (and the player last week) dived and should have got a yellow. Baldock got straight back up, any other player would have rolled around the floor for 5 minutes in agony.

I think MOD's coverage of the match was very poor especially for a 2nd game

No mention of our other penalty claim
or the refs decision not to allow us to sub Hamer that led to their goal
and that’s the reason Hecky was booked
and some of our bookings looked debatable to me

Away from our match I found it hilarious how they were all sucking up to Maguire with keown saying how he's always rated him. The media collectively have been crucifing him for 2 years at every available opportunity, but now a big thing has been made of bullying and taking it too far (probably brought about by Southgates comments after that Scotland game and quite rightly so). So now they are all backtracking and being nice about him at every available opportunity.

I did notice how keen they were to mention a two handed push through the back of the player means penalty, but it obviously wasn't when it was Maguire on McAtee.

I love the way Murphy and Keown were trying to argue that it wasn't a penalty and there was no contact/minimal contact when you see the replay from Silva's left. Then when you see it in slow motion from his right side and can see clear contact with Baldock, they suddenly hesitate in their commentary, then continue with their rhetoric.

For me the player's reaction at the final whistle tells it all. He was in tears for letting his team down. If it wasn't a penalty then he'd be angry at the decision. Why remorse unless you know you did something wrong?
Deffo pen

I don’t understand the controversy about the pen award at all. Yes, it was soft, but their player could have stood off, contact was made, George was heading away from goal at the time. It’s their player’s own stupid fault.

Cheese and onion-munching high-paid jumbo-eared big mouthed twat is probably still bitter about his team losing to Leeds. Lineker and MOTD's so-called 'experts' are no better than a bunch of lads down the pub. If that pen was given to Man City or Newcastle they'd have had no complaints. Tossers.

Them and us

We know it's how it works

How dare that ref give some small fry club a penalty when we have no professional falling down.expert
Surprise surprise, over the last week MOTD pundits and Lineker have changed their opinion on what constitutes a penalty. In the Palace v Everton game Eze won one penalty and was booked for simulation after going down again in the second half. At best there was the very slightest contact, though it wasnt obvious to see even after several replays in slow motion.

On this occasion the panel were unanimous, Eze was more than entitled to go down even if there was minimal contact and was unlucky not to get a penalty.

They have no credibility do they - and they're paid thousands to spout this crap
