I'm sure they have gone down or at least stayed stable for the past couple of years.

Prices have been very reasonable the last few seasons. I made a big mistake renewing this season, I've missed far too many games due to pup jnr playing Saturday lunchtimes in Derbyshire/Cheshire. I wouldnt go to Wembley if we made the PO Off final (too far, too expensive, hopefully break the jinx etc), cant afford to or have the time on a Saturday to attend away games but the free shirt apart, through no ones fault, I've had a poor return on my ST this season.

I've considered not going to the PO to break the jinx as well, assuming that it would make a difference :)

As far as your comment about ST prices goes, I paid £400+ (can't remember the exact figure) and I don't consider that reasonable in the slightest. That's a massive overpayment for Championship football of any kind. But I was daft enough to pay it once again. It's kind of been the final straw really.

I can tell you from experience that picking and choosing games is the way to go in these circumstances. I've been doing this for the last couple of seasons and there has not been a single game that i wanted to attend which i have not been able to (that includes the play-off final).

How many "pickers and choosers" would have chosen to go to the Plymoiuth game I wonder?

;)

It's the first time I have been seriously considering not renewing. I have had a season ticket pretty much for 20 years now (missed a couple of years when I bought my first house). On the whole I have been going to the match for nearer 30. I love match day, the pints before, seeing mates I don't normally see. It's my thing. My escape. I don't go out on the piss as much as I used to because of kids, bills etc. and I look forward to it. Normally.

I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with football as a whole. It's not just me getting older and more grumpy. I am sick to death of the mercenary twats that mince about on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon (or Sunday afternoon, lunchtime, teatime or whenever the fook those Sky tits try to squeeze another match in), don't give a toss about their clubs, then drive home in their Lambos, Pimp-mobiles etc. to try and decide at which club they're going to accept a nice signing on fee next. It annoys the hell out of me thinking I am funding this. Especially since last year my company nearly went to the wall and I haven't had a pay rise for 5 years.

My main problem would be telling young BB that we're not having a season ticket next year and we'll just be going to the odd match here and there when his Dad can be arsed.

I know how you feel to some extent but obviously you have young-uns so you have to consider even more than I do. The point you made highlighted in bold is what i'm trying to get across to people and i'm glad someone else realises it.

We've all been getting mugged for years now and the rich are pocketing it. I'm sick of being a complete fucking sap and handing over money I work so bloody hard for to some over-paid, over-pampered individuals. The part that really makes me seethe is that a minority of them aren't fit to clean my boots. Sadly I didnt get the breaks and opportunities that some of them did. I tell you what though, I wouldn't behave the way some of them do. I would count myself extraordinarily lucky if I was privileged enough to play football for a living.

Some supporters will just continue to blindly follow and pay up every year. Better them than me.

(Rant over) - sorry :D

I expect to renew, Unless of course there is a obscene price inrease, but that would really have to be obscene. Ive held a ST for two seasons now, which i know is far less than many of you, but in that time ive only missed one game.

As for paying for it, i opt for the DD over 8 months despite the interest (Which if my memory serves me right was around £28 last year so hardly the earth). Yes linz it would be easier to save the money each month, but i choose not to for 2 reasons.

I sincerely hope SUFC are picking up the drift of the comments on here and setting season ticket prices accordingly.
Bit of imagination might be nice - say if we get to 15,000 it's £50 off all of them or something similar.
I know for a fact that SUFC currently have employees who are scanning this website and reporting back what is being said.
Obviously they were looking for leaks out of the club but hopefully this one might filter back.

I also believe that we do have a couple of regular member who do work for the club. Hopefully between the two a message might get back to Mr Birch.

The real questions are will he listen, and can we afford to listen?

I work in the club shop and have it away with Blackwell's wife in the stock room. I'm also part of an American consortium looking to buy the club and enter it in the MLS.

Oh, and in my spare time I run a Chinese gambling ring.

It was the fallout from the Ward and Blackwell rumours and the academy meeting stuff being posted. Not just keeping an eye on here mind, there are other sites being viewed.
As I posted previously its mainly to see who is leaking information but the simple fact is people talk, and when things aren't going well at work you tend to talk to friends or family about what is pissing you off. You go into the academy and make it clear that costs need to be cut and naturally people will worry about their job security. To expect them not to talk about it is an exercise in futility.

Anyway it's a it's a Ripleys believe it or not. It makes not difference to the fact that hopefully this will be fed back into the club at some point.

You don't happen to know who owns the freehold do you ?

Give over, if you got paid £10k a week you would easily go out and buy a sports car and shag all the fit lasses in sight at the age of 21. Don't kid yourself ;)

Justin Fashanu never went around shagging all the fit young birds and I doubt Peter Beardsley ever did :D

Disappointing to see a number of posters on here considering not to renew for next season. (unless its financial of course)

Unfortunately, I take a different view to a lot of you.

I have been a supporter for around 36 years. In that time I have only been a st holder for a very small portion of that period. (Many of the usual reasons and excuses, house buying, family comes along etc etc) However, I take the opposite stance to you who are considering not renewing.

I stopped playing football as 21 year old on Saturdays to watch the lads. Why I was asked, when they've just been relegated to the old 3rd div are you now deciding to go and watch them? Simple really! Now more than ever, they gonna need our support. I decided to nip off around the country, home and away, because I took the view that if ever there was a time they needed our support, this was it! Subsequent years later, I had the pleasure of witnessing their return to the big league and they were great days indeed (Boxing day apart)

I got my 1st season ticket in a number of years this season. But because I can see tough times ahead, I am adamant that I will renew again for next season. Again simple really. That time has come around again where they're gonna need all the help they can get!

I realise it may be different for fans that have renewed season after season after season and they are fed up and frustrated. But I care enough about the club to do my bit to help them when I feel they need it the most. It's in my blood and although almost everything the club does is out of my control, For me, I feel compelled to do my bit to help.

The last 10 years or so on reflection under McCabe have in the main generated oodles of excitement. Almost every season there's been something going on, play-offs, promotion, relegation, semi's the lot! And whilst it's not been all plain sailing by any stretch, in the main there's been a lot of good times and I believe st holders in general, have had value for money, especially when compared to across the city.

For me now, that time has come around again. Time to give em some back and support the club I grew up with by paying for a s.t. The view being, it's gonna be a tough few seasons ahead and they need all the support we can muster.

Yes I want to be entertained. Yes I want to see them win and yes I want to see good football. But to me, it's not all about that is it? You know, rough with the smooth and the rough is certainly around the corner.

I just hope when the time comes most of the season ticket holders think long and hard and come to what I believe is the right decision, which is to relent and renew!

You just can't beat a packed B.L. Shiver down the old spine and all that!

The clubs hour of need is almost upon them. If you are able to, then carry on giving them your support to help get through it!

PS. Here's a Lee Strafford line...................The more fans that turn up, the more chance there is of investment! :-) lmao!

:lol: most young men probably would yes but;

1. I'm tight as fuck when it comes to spending on myself
2. I've never been interested in cars
3. I have a bit of self control
4. There's no way I would let a slapper get anywhere near ME OR MY MONEY if I was that well off

As for Woodward's comment about Fashanu and Beardsley.......I can't imagine what made them different

Stirring stuff Blade.

Only problem is why should anyone part with £420 to basically fund a hotel block and some cruddy apartments or commercial units in Richmond, Leicester etc etc? This is McCabe's hour of need not SUFC's.

People have had enough. Add the pre-historic Blackwell, inevitable player sales and mass job insecurity and it is very easy to understand why season tickets will not be renewed.

I've said before that £300 for south stand and £200 for kop would work for me. Aint going to happen but that is the kind of pricing that I think is needed.

I appreciate the sentiments behind all this but that's your circumstances mate. Clearly it suits you to buy a ST at the moment for whatever reason that might be and I respect that. I think it's great that you are showing loyalty and backing the club during a difficult time but for some of us it's not as simple as just picking up the phone and renewing again 'because the club needs money and support.'

I have supported United from the age of 4 and have had a season ticket for the full 20 years up to now. I have only once before, contemplated not renewing and that was about 5 years ago when I couldn't really afford it (I still did incidently). This time I have questioned both my pocket and my common sense. The major issue is the cost, its far far far too expensive! Not just for the quality we are seeing, but for watching football full stop! It just doesnt help that we're not serving up good football either, but I suppose it depends what you want for your money.

Yes, some are just plain fed up. There is a little bit of that for me, but its more the feeling that ive been getting mugged for the last few years and have been left ultimately unfulfilled. The fact that I come home every other week with the face on has made my missus question "why do you spend all that money and time on it if it pisses you off?" I thought, fuck me she's right - i'm a nob head!

That's irrelevant. If all the other clubs in the division are shafting their fans, does that mean we should as well???

But that's a different question. If we price really low would that see a proportional increase in the gates, I don't see it.

Indeed. Some have already said on a previous thread that they won't be renewing no matter what.

Lower prices may just mean 12000 renewing at £300 when the majority of those 12000 would've paid £400. I'd like to see some more options available too... Saturday STs for starters.

I expect my South Stand ticket to be around £409. I hope for my sake it's cheaper; I hope for United's sake it isn't more expensive... because there will be some very unhappy bunnies around if so.

But Lou, if you stop your ST, when will you ever get another? It won't get cheaper so you'll need to get richer or more reckless.

Being completely honest with yourself... if we got promoted would you renew?

Trust me i'm a salesman (not a bad one actually) and if they knock the ST prices right down the majority will bite.

I'm paid to know how buyers think; and the ones I deal with are often as tight as Sheffield folk :)

I've thought about your first point before JD but it's as simple as what you're saying; my disposable income will have to increase to make me contemplate it again, because I feel the club are pricing me out at the moment. It doesn't make me feel like my loyalty thus far is being rewarded.

Being completely honest; yes of course I would consider it if we got promoted - who doesnt want to watch their side in the PL?! But it doesnt mean I definately would/could. I would be wary of the fact that we will probably get panned every week with this side. I would also have to call in a few favours because as my point in bold states..............

This isn't a dig at you Lou, or anyone else for that matter, and I don't want to come over all Lee Strafford (urrrgh... awful image) but may I interject with a point as a devil's advocate? :)

A lot of people bemoan Kevin McCabe's (perceived?) lack of investment in the club and yet when ST renewal comes round, they withhold their money saying their return isn't worth it.

Couldn't KMc say exactly the same thing?

Is it hypocritical to have a go at McCabe for not investing if you are not prepared to do the same?

I wasn't having a dig there - I'm just trying to figure something out.

A lot of the people I know who aren't renewing cite the cost. But in truth, if the product is good enough people find a way.

I'm quite happy to renew on the basis I get the £000 equivalent value in shares, or I'll happily loan the figure and get it back at x above base :D

But I agree with the premise that prices can't come down unfortunately and one factor I'll be weighing up is will I be paying more to watch a worse squad because x 000's haven't renewed so there's not enough to buy better players?

The Saturday ST would work for me too, but as it results automatically in lowering the money they'll get off me I can't see it.

Personally still undecided, but currently leaning to picking and choosing as and when I feel like it next time around.
