Announced on RS this evening.

I can't see this has been posted anywhere else but also haven't had time to read every single post!

Frozen for 2 seasons isn't bad.

I'm looking forward to Premier League football at today's prices.....

Well I can dream can't I?

;)

I won't believe it until I've had official confirmation from Len

OMG, i was kinda hoping for £50 increase, just to see the collective appoplexy from certain quarters :D
a decrease woulda been better and given the board a much needed boost among our suporters, but a 2 year freeze isnt too bad, tho a little longer would have shown intent.
can we set up a boycott till they increase it by £50?

Not heard it, don't know the details but if it's just a price freeze then it's bye bye another 2,000 to 5,000 fans. Shocking on the back of the ST sales last season.

You can call it an official or an unofficial boycott - it'll be the same result on the finances and the future of the club.

How does this attract back some of the 5,000 ST holders we lost without a fight last season?

Does anyone seriously think prices will go up massively next season - to make this a great offer.

How does this address the problem the club is facing in shrinking the fanbase to the point where it will have massive knock on on the club and its finances for years.

Shortsighted, unimaginative and out of touch if it's just holding prices.

It may appease a few of the hardcore followers on here but I doubt it will impress a big chunk of the masses.

Having said that, on the bright side it's made my decision very easy this year. Over 30 years an ST holder till last season was worried I'd face a dilemma if they cut prices - but they've made it an easy decision for me and no doubt most of the other 5,000 who quit last year.

I hope I'm proved wrong and all 14,000 renew and thousands are tempted back. I'll be happy to have lots of egg on my face - though please don't trust any sales figures coming out of the club after last season! Wait till you see the crowds.

Rant over, for now.

We're shit. Crowds will diminish because of this. We can play about with ticket prices but they will still shrink. And when we stop being shit, they'll grow.

A decrease would have been nice. But there's a harsh reality that it brings decreased revenue and increases the likelihood of us remaining shit. Every time they slash prices for the cup it has the same effect - increase in support, questionable - decrease in revenue, definitely.

I'd say they've got it about right. Now let's concentrate on stopping being shit.

Price freeze well if that is true then I wont be in a rush to get a season ticket.

I agree with Tuns it is a rather short sighted move.

The funniest thing is the other suggestion is something like they're frozen if renewed by mid April.
Only a rumour at this stage but good luck with that one if true.
Their imagination looks to have stretched as far as a price freeze and no further.
No surprise there. I think Tuns has called it right, without big changes at the top of the club, United will be losing thousands more fans again.
And they'll deserve it.

You don't have to have the solution, you got to understand the problem, and don't go hoping for a miracle

But surely a price freeze, is in effect a decrease? So Len, you got what you wanted. NO? Well no surprise there.

Bluetones = Poor Mans Northern Uproar

Wow, that's some putdown!

I remember seeing them when i was 16, and they were supporting Ash at The London Astoria. They they were the same age as me, having a right old laugh onstage. I was well jealous. Shame their tunes were shit.

(I'm talking about Northern Uproar here, not the Bluetones....)

In real terms does this price freeze mean I will pay more than last season for my ticket. By that I mean have they frozen last year's expensive prices not what everyone actually paid.

A real freeze based on what I paid would be better.

Maybe a fans forum where I'm filled with optimism that we are gunning for promotion and won't rely on loans will boost sales?

I think the funniest thing is the suggestion that dropping the prices by 10% would have had done anything other than reduce the revenue from those who renew by 10%.

The vast, vast majority will have decided whether they were going to renew or not regardless of what the price announcement was.

Something truly innovative (i.e. not just knocking £50 quid off) might well have had a small impact but in the absence of that, and I don't think anyone ever expected it would happen, a price freeze seems fair. They're not taking the piss out of those who will renew whatever happens and they've recognised that, however people might claim they'd come back if it was a bit cheaper on internet forums, the reality is that price isn't the key issue for people at the moment.

What the club now needs to do is to make sure that matchday tickets for next season are as easy as possible to purchase on a one-off basis and people aren't put off by having to jump through hoops (real or imagined) to get them.

i was thinking the same as £299 is still ok on the Kop but the increased renewal price of over £300 would be an increase for me and most of the fans that renewed early last year.

United, who are 23rd in the table, yesterday announced they have frozen season-ticket prices for the next two campaigns. They have also extended their easy-payment plan - enabling the cost to be spread over 10 months – and raised the concessionary age to 16.

The offer is open to all supporters but those who have previously allowed season tickets to lapse or who are purchasing for the first time will not be able to name their preferred seats until after April 17’s deadline for renewals. United have also announced they are calling a halt to ‘flexi’ and ‘mini’ season pass promotions to prevent those who invest up front from being “compromised.”

Other benefits include 200 bonus loyalty points.

Given the plethora of ideas that were passed to the club for next seasons STs this shows at best a distinct lack of innovation and at worst total lip service to fan's Forums and Fan's reps. I think it's probably the latter given the mid-April renewal date and giving the news to the Stir before it's published anywhere else. Why didn't they offer a range of options and gauge which one to introduce based on feedback from the various Forums (wasn't a problem when picking a kit).

Thanks Coops

I was begininning to think I'd mis-heard RS - dodgy reception in some parts of Leeds

Does it mean that we still get early purchase discount or do we all just get the season ticket for what we paid last season at the price we paid whether discounted or not I wonder?
