I’d give Wilder a new deal get Sharp in coaching and let them get on with it. The AI Recruitment screwed it,
Sharp? WTF? Why? What does he bring to the party?

How about we spend time sourcing good young coaches with a track record of, I don't know, coaching?

I'm not a Wilder fan, and I did call for us to sign lampard (who I can't fucking stand) but we got the Spanish nutcase.
Either way we shouldn't over react to the result tonight, even though it was against the tennis ball bastards.
End of the day were still Blades, and they're from Coventry.
I'd rather catch back cancer than be from Coventry.
You wouldn't rather have cancer.

My mate died from it starting on his back

What an utterly sh*t post 4 days after the Weston park fundraiser

Tw*t.

I haven’t read it all as it’s just tedious, but there’s a lot of shite on this thread. We were great last night, absolutely dominated the top side. So they won, so what, they are top precisely because of games like this? You can’t win every game, and we have no right to do that this season.

I actually do think some good can come of the parachute payments going.

I appreciate that almost sounds like a Porktalk comment I.e. I can see how having less cash can be good!

Let me explain. It felt like we were almost forced to blood Tonge, Jags and Monty and they broke through to be stalwarts.

Maybe it is the time for example, that Sachdev becomes the understudy for Seriki after a full pre-season rather than a 30 grand a week loanee. Maybe you can get behind a combination of Oné and Marsh as the fourth and fifth strike option rather than Ings on good money? Perhaps Hampson gets some minutes to see if he can be a squad option rather than having to use up a loan slot on Soumaré?

Some of them will not be ready and sink. Others may swim and save us money. I certainly think that unless we sell a forward, that with Oné and Marsh coming in to join Bamford, Cannon and Campbell with O’Hare as a number 10 option then that’s enough. Maybe you consider selling one of the senior players to get a different type but it does feel like next season should be Oné’s coming of age season.

I agree apart from Tanganga That's a fair chunk off the wage bill hopefully we get guss to sign a new contract with brooks and seriki on 4 year deals .We need a proper Cb at the side of tang who can bully an opponent and hate to say it a new keeper

McGuinness
Mee
Chong
Davies
Shackleton
Soumare
Ings
Ogbene
Cannon

If you could guarantee he’d be fit, Souttar and Tanganga would be quite the pairing at this level.

I'll trump your mate with my father, who died of cancer.
Now kindly go fu k yourself.

Problem is you can only pick 11.

Brooks and O’Hare have been our better players this season and whilst he’s been inconsistent, Hamer is regarded as one of the best in the division. Bamford has to play. So who do you obviously drop for Cannon? He can hardly claim he deserves to start over O’Hare or Brooks.

We played well. With a different ref and a bit of fortune we’d have won by a couple of goals.
I’m a big fan of O’Hare but he has been ineffective last couple of games .. Bamford was so isolated at times last night & getting crowded out by defenders.
There was no option for us for the ball over the top last night , everything was played in front of Cov last night & wide .

A lot of red tinted glasses worn on this forum, blinkered.

My opinion on Wilder has long been that he shouldn’t have come back for his second spell here. 3rd spell, even more no.

Wilder with money is a shambles. The guy isn’t a tactician either. We didn’t outplay Coventry last night, they let us have possession - Lampard outthought Wilder, you could see clearly that Coventry set up to nullify us and it worked a treat, we couldn’t break em down. They had more shots on target than us with a 1/3 leas possession. Let that sink in to all you pricks having a pop at me for even daring to suggest Wilder should be relieved of his duty.

This club will go nowhere with Wilder at the helm. He’s a man manager, a blokey mate and someone who can put an arm round a player but we’re being left behind tactically with him in charge whilst a new breed of managers and squad comes through.

WILDER OUT.

Because the owners are clueless and we need someone to run the club as well as manage the team?

The whole club revolves around Chris Wilder which is good whilst it works, but is no way to run a proper business and that is why we must bring someone in to work alongside him to eventually take over whilst Wilder is still involved.
I suggested Travis Binnion, not bothered who it is but think he knows the current way the club and Wilder work and is subsequently a suitable candidate.
We do however run the risk of everything falling apart when Wilder is no longer here which is why succession management has to be an essential part of future proof management.

I fear we’ve got the Boro/Watford version of Wilder now.

Unfortunately I can only see us finishing lower midtable next season with the football being a lot worse to watch.
I’ve generally really enjoyed the football we have played . I think Wilder has worked wonders dragging us from almost certain relegation candidates to possible playoff contention.

He has generally brought in good players and got a better tune out of the ones he re inherited.

But - yup - let’s sack him

FFS

We ought to be carrying him shoulder high round the city centre

He's setting his stall out for an even longer term involvement in the club.

Yes. Let's hang out flags out for a guy last successful years ago and would rather us be in his image than actually evolve beyond his capability

Fergie was a serial winner. That's a real legacy to live on, not Wilder's.

I wouldn’t be banking on Brooks and Seriki both being here next season. I’d love it if they are, but not expecting it.

Wilder in the here and now is the right man for the job, for the middling Championship team we are.

He's the man potentially to take us up but it's been proven before that he's not the man to keep us up.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Players to keep if we can for me are Cooper, Tanganga, McCallum, Arblaster (if he can get back fully fit), Hamer, O'Hare, Brooks, Burrows, Seriki, Peck, Riedewald, Bamford and Rothwell. Hoever's not been too bad and would be a useful addition if Seriki went, Not seen too much of Hjelde but I wouldn't be averse to seeing him at CB instead of Bindon who was very slow and clumsy last night.

The rest of the squad can bugger off for what use they've been.

Who on earth is going to bid anything substantial for those players, and where's the money going to come from to replace them? Most are loanees or out of contract on that list anyway FFS 🤣

Why on earth would be change manager now?

End of the season we will lose:

Mee
Davies
Davies
Soumare
Ings
Ogbene
Philips
Reidewald
Bindon

Unless we take a loss on players like:
McGuiness (who is signing him?)
Chong (who is signing him?)
Cannon (who is signing him?)

They will be here next season too.

I can see Wilder being keen to have a fit RND back as a squad player.

We are likely to lose, at least, 1 of:
Hamer, Peck, Seriki, Brooks

People keep saying that this years championship is poor, but its only that we haven't had one team who you think deserves to be in PL. its a tight league, next season, with Wolves, probably Burnley and (hopefully) forest, I can see that being the top 3. we have to have a squad who we can be mid table and build into a potential play off side. The basics are there, I don't see the need to rip it all up and go down a different avenue.

If we got promoted, I can see that being a better time to do it.

That Coventry squad are almost all going to be playing Championship football again next season, if they want to stay up.

Agree pal we really do have some cock ends in our support …but I bet they’re fkg outstanding on Championship Manager or what ever shite they entertain themselves on while not attending The Lane ⚔️👍
I really don't think the Sabella bloke or lady and the other fluckwit Pollster are fans of United.
Out and out idiotic trolls with nothing else better to do with their sad empty lives.

How does expressing an opinion on a forum "drag the club down" ?
Canceling my ST might , but not saying a few things in debate here
Depends. Obviously opinion and debate is part of being a fan.
However. Some people only ever find stuff to grumble about. If they generate that feel inside the ground then that drags things down, also generates an overall negative feeling, that drags fans and the club down.

That’s the thing.

It’s ok sacking him, because nobody on here has to be accountable for the fallout.

Sack him last summer some said. “Oh, but I didn’t want Sellés to come and lose all his matches!”

He’s a more than capable manager at this level. There are plenty out there that aren’t. Let’s not try to be too clever here and end up in a Sellés mark II situation.

Dealing with a smaller budget will require experience. Not some first time maverick.
