I do like Scoogs, obviously not as much as Pinchy ,but i like him nonetheless, what has come apparent to me however is how much better of an impact player he would be as he proved at Colchester. What i can't understand is why Cloughy hasn't used him like that since as he would be seen in a much better light until his form picks up used in this way.I suppose he'll have his reasons but i can't really see them.

At the moment Reed should be infront of Scoogs until his form picks up as he is contributing more in the way of assists and chances but i don't think the management team see it that way.The only reason i could possibly see as to why he is continually playing Scoogs is that he hopes he plays him back into form,it is possible and i'm more than willing for this to happen aslong as the RESULTS KEEP COMING as he will be contributing to the wins whether he scores or assists, there are other contributing factors to winning a game of football.

I know that ultimately, goals or alternatively assists are what attacking midfielders get judged upon but Scoogs does offer other things, lets just hope he can start doing what he's judged upon to stop the doubters he has 'atm' including me and keep us going in the right direction.

We're now "blessed" with decent/good central midfielders.. If we assume a back 5 of Howard, Harris, McEveley, Basham/Kennedy, Flynn..With McNulty, up front..and Murphy/JCR wide...which is an assumption,, admittedly..Who else fits in, or misses out? I want to see Baxter, Reed, Scougall and James Wallace (fitness, permitting) all play. But Doyle's a shoe-in, and I appreciate why, and Cuvelier's sniffing about..I suspect Basham was brought in for his physicality too in centre mid, where we're lacking, but he's looked a far more accomplished centre half..So if fit, who should start do you think? I change my mind too often to offer a worthwhile opinion!

To answer the question of if fit who should start,if i were picking from what iv'e seen,my strongest 3 players in the middle would be J.Wallace,Baxter and Reed.

Appreciating what role Doyle is playing 'atm' he would be in if,or should i say when J.Wallace is injured.

The interesting thing with Doyle is he has a reyt left peg on him when he wants to utilise it further up the pitch,i just wish he'd use it more and shift from sat on top of the centre backs, like he rightfully did in my eyes at the weekend on a numerous of times.

To add to all you mention we've recently signed Kieran Wallace and are after another midfielder fromDerby. Davies will be fit soon and Adams mainly plays in midfield.

Does anyone get the impression 4-5-1 is here to stay?! We've only got two strikers plus Porter.

Baxter has to play. He has enormous talent (certainly at this level) and we are beginning to see it is best deployed as a deep-lying playmaker in front of the back four.

Doyle is going to be phased out, excellent though he has been since his dismissal last season. A fit James Wallace would be the choice but I hear that the lad from Derby, Coutts, has real ability and is a tough six-footer. Don't be surprised if he is used in central midfield, which he is well accustomed to.

Unlike others, I'm sure we will play 4-4-2 at times when COG returns. On the occasions when we play 4-5-1 the extra midfielder is a 'form and opposition' choice between the two giants Reedy and Scoogs (❤️). Personally, I would have one play on the other's shoulders within a single shirt. Most refs wouldn't notice.

He does offer other things, but if 4-5-1 is what we will use someone in the midfield 3 has to get the goals and assists...and none of them do it with any regularity. This is one of the two main reasons why we are not automatic promotion challengers IMHO (the other is an inability to stop conceding goals from set pieces).

If we do sign another midfielder I really hope it's someone who scores goals more than once every 6 months.

Can't disagree with that mate, that's why i put i hope he can start doing what he's judged upon as i too believe that ultimately, that is what he will be judged on.He's not even getting assists which is more concerning for me because midfielders should be atleast making chances and then the pressure of them scoring is eased somewhat.
