The last few games we've started with 5 Scottish players in the team - Collins, Flynn, McDonald, Robson and Murphy. I'm sure this must be a record for the Blades. Can any of our stats experts confirm or deny this?

We had a lot of Scots in our first few years. We had a good captain called Billy Hendry whom Ernest Needham rated highly as a player

No. Professionalism was legal in 1889, so we openly recruited Scottish players. Preston did something like that in the years before the FA sanctioned professionalism.

Yonks ago, maybe the Haslam era, I remember (or thought I remembered) in a programme a Blades Tartan being advertised. I got in touch with the Tartan Society and they said no there wasn't one so perhaps I got that wrong.

Having acquired the said heavy skirt I mean kilt it would be interesting to suss out the Blades one if it existed.

A Caledonian Blades badge could be designed with Scimitars being repaced by a couple of Claymores, the White rose as posted the other week has beeen 'hijacked' by the bastards Jacobites anyway with a Blades Tartan surround. Could be an interesting project!

We have had Scots who played for us but their homesickness shortened their career at the Lane. Jim Bone was one and Peter Hetherston was another but the shortest spell due to homesickness goes to Cameron Evans who came to us from Rangers in October 1968. He went back to Rangers 3 or 4 days later!

Must be scouting Scotland for cheap players as we nearly signed the two Rangers players then this January we bid for Dundees Russell.

Also signed Flynn & Murphy from Scottish teams.
