Scott Parker

Rebranding begins with ‘Scotty Parker’s Sheffield United’

Strikes me as another one of those Southern blinkered, London wankers who get an angina attack if they venture north of Watford.
(I know he played for Newcastle…!)

No thank you very much.

I think I would prefer the dog fucker.

I’d read somewhere it is because as soon as Hecky takes a new job … he stops getting his pay off from the Prince. I think that has been a ‘blocker’ for him getting a new job. I expect he’ll get a job in October after his 12 months is up & some team in the Championship sacks their manager after a poor start.
See Hecky back at BDTBL in October then …!!

Been told by 2 different people this week that Parker will come in as manager when the takeover is complete.

Not sure on the truth, or how I'd feel about that appointment.
Couldn’t think of anything worse than Parker.

He failed with a zillion more pounds than we have and his football just isn’t good to watch.

A lot moan at Wilder’s recent record where as he lasted a few months in Belgium before getting the boot.

I remember someone involved with the club mentioning how Bettis has really strong links with Bournemouth.

Parker was linked previously with the job here and then we got Tindall in. Now we have this Des fellow who has links to Bournemouth.

So could have some traction for sure.

A promotion is a promotion though, is it not?
He has an absolute dream team at Bournemouth. Better than the side we had last year that got promoted and he stumbled over the line.

Would rather have Hecky than Parker.

If Parker is brought in they might as well not bother sending my season ticket because i won't be going.

We all say this but we will still go.

Be a huge step backwards. Would rather new owner go for Hecky.

Playing devil's advocate, Scott Parker has 2 promotions to the PL under his belt, one with Fulham and one with Bournemouth. Whatever anyone says, it's no further step backwards than either Hecky or Wilder, the latter of which might have more experience, but imo he's too old school, the game has moved on and Wilder has proved at 3 clubs what he's about at this level. If Scott Parker gets the job, which I have no idea whether he will or not, I'll back him until he proves whether he's capable or not.

Roll on the takeover, when we can all stop speculating and the club can focus on what comes next.

Given every one of these links gets shot down and half don't want Wilder assuming a new manager was to be appointed who realistically would we be happy with?

The foreign approach didn't work with Slav despite the fact he'd done it before and was pretty much universally welcomed by all of us. So do we try that again and if so is it someone who has never manged here before or someone with English league experience?

Or do we go with someone who has a good record at a lower level like Ian Evatt who got Barrow promoted into the football league and is doing a good job at Bolton?

It's a minefield and I'm glad I'm not choosing. League one this season illustrates the randomness of it. Oxford had been in and around the play offs for 5 seasons and finally hit on the right man who was Oxford born and bred but managing abroad and went up through the play offs. However through those 5 years they had had John Mousiniho playing for them who they then released, Pompey appointed him as first team manager with absolutely no experience and he won the league!

The contradiction is quite mind blowing.

Parker has done nothing apart from promotion with superstar squad. His last job was a horror show in Belgium.

His record is arguably worse than Wilders.

If we are changing manager which I wouldn’t. I would go with Hecky.

We need someone who knows the club and knows the big issues that we have within it. I always think Man Utd and Watford do this. They get a manager in he identifies the problems but then is sacked before can change them over.

This isn’t a managerial job per se it’s about knowing what your walking into so that can change what’s required.

If we are changing the ownership and the ownership has ambitions and a plan that’s going to make us compatible to compete at the highest level in the modern game the n we need to stop drawing on emotion and the past or as it’s known bladey bladeness
Hopefully we have someone leading the new owners who knows the game as a game as well as a business - if so he won’t give Scott Parker a job

I've no love for Parker or desire to see him given the job but some of the people saying 'he did get 2 promotions...but he had a big budget and only just got over the line' are the same ones who respond to claims we weren't great under Hecky and didn't play good football by saying 'still got promoted though didn't he, that's all that matters'. Can't have it both ways.

I know wearing nice clothes isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I don't think how he dresses should be considered a factor in whether he'd be a success, or otherwise.

I certainly wouldn't be over the moon with the appointment but I think the reaction on here is a little OTT.

He's had 2 seasons in the Championship as a manager and got promoted both times?
Yeah, this was my thinking - hence I hadn't commented yet because I was trying to figure out what I was missing given other peoples negative responses.

(What am I missing?)
