Bloody good read that, thanks for sharing! ;)

It will make a change to see Scandinavians in Blades shirts. If I am ever flying out of Manchester Airport on a Monday morning, to Copenhagen, Stockholm or Oslo, the airport is full of Scandinavians in Manchester United and Liverpool shirts!

There were some Swedish Blades at Wembley when we played Hull.
Bert was buying them some red wine just as we scored the first goal......that's only the second goal Bert has ever missed at a football match since 1963.
The first one was scored by Jimmy Greaves.

Don't blame me, it's Google translate...

What happened Sheff.Utd.?

We talked to Sheffield United's Norwegian supporter before the weekend's Cup match at Old Trafford.
Nine years ago, scored Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney wins goals when United beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

One month later the team looked down for a drama of the rare last league round. They had everything in their own hands. 38 points, three points more than Wigan - opponent last game - and they had a home game. But it was the 1-2 loss. Wigan crept past, and afterwards have not Sheffield United have been in the best company.

The fall continued to level 3, League One, where they have been for several years now. At this writing, the distance up to direct promotion place 14 points, play-off spot, four points away.

What happened?
- We're on the wrong level

- It's pretty tough, responding Tommas Saetre, manager of Sheffield United's Norwegian Supporterklubb.

- There is a black period in the club's history. This is the sixth year now we are down to level three, and we fans feel that we are at the wrong level. We see ourselves as the biggest club in League One, but one thing it is to be a big club. Anything else is there to have a good enough team to uproot.

- We have changed many players and many managers. There has been little long-term thinking, says Sætre and sugar.
B-team against United?
This season is the former manager hero in Southampton, Nigel Adkins, brought in to steer the ship to promotion. That he has managed from the same level with two clubs earlier. They were also among the favorites promotion, but the results have varied much.

At least until December.

- We opened pretty good, but then it went a bit slower. It culminated with a 4-2 loss at home against Shrewsbury and then let Adkins about strategy. From playing open and attacking football we started playing cynical and it was focused intently on physical and solid players with a lot of experience, says Sætre.

The average age in some of the recent fighting has been 29 years, but the change yielded results. Before the weekend's 2-3 loss at home against Peterborough had Sheffield United won the last four matches, three in the league and one in the FA Cup 2nd round.

Saetre is uncertain how they will look like against United.

- We play an important game against Wigan already Tuesday. There is a six point match, and when we met Fulham in the League Cup earlier in the season we played almost with a pure B-teams. The league is also important, he says about the fight against a Wigan which is on 5th place - five points ahead of Sheffield United right now.

- What do you think about Manchester United match?

- It will be fun to watch Sheffield United live on TV again. This season I have followed his via radio live, and then set it on television the day after when it will be made available via Sheffield United's own video player on-line.

- When it comes to the actual battle, well, we struggled to stave off Coventry at home .. Then it is naive to believe that we will manage anything at Old Trafford, he says.
There is just one year ago Sheffield United got to the semifinals of the League Cup before it became a narrowly 2-3 loss on aggregate for Sheffield United. It is only two years since the team reached the semifinals of the FA Cup.

But much has changed since it - meaning that Saetre have little faith in a sensation this season.

- One can always say that cup is the cup, but the time we had a stunted layer with quick feet and andd counter strength. There we no longer have.

Baxter did not happen ...

The most famous players nowadays Che Adams, who scored two of the goals against Tottenham in the League Cup final, which Arsenal have sniffed at. Billy Sharp is also a goalgetter who is back in the team, and some may also remember Jose Baxter who once was mentioned as a much bigger talent than Wayne Rooney. Dean Hammond is hired from Leicester, and John Brayford club managed to grab one back who played regularly for Cardiff in the Championship to step down a division.

- The best team is the potential that is here a potential which gives grounds for optimism. If things are done right so it can go very well, says Sætre dreamy.

Although he leads one supporter with scant 100 members, and where most of the activity takes place on a closed Facebook group. To be League One level so there is still good activity and public tours are arranged.

- The club has also been quick to take care of us, says Sætre.

Manchester United - Sheffield United played Saturday at 18:30.

Great apart from the last paragraph inviting Man U fans to join the Scandinavian Blades.

Bergen, I presume you're a Norwegian as opposed to an exiled Sheffielder? If so, just out of interest, how come you support United when most Norwegians support Man U of Liverpool? Is it due to the number of Norwegian players we've had over the years? My personal favourite, like most Blades I would guess, was Jan Aage Fjortoft! Pure class and sadly missed!

In 1991 I joined a Play By Mail manager game and was by random assigned to manage Sheffield United!

I too played a mail football manager thing, at about the same time. Was it by any chance by Gad games? I recall managing Bristol Rovers and we were crap! I couldn't get United because they were already taken. And here's me thinking it was all due to the signings of Flo, Nilsen and Jan Aage! Since we're talking Norway, is it right that Flo was more of a right winger for Norway and club level, whereas we played him up top as a target man, to replace Deane. He never seemed comfortable playing the target man role, despite being 6.4ft tall! I remember when he first signed he looked decent and our fans were singing Flo, Flo, Flo ,Flo,Flo. Flo etc Who needs Deano! That soon turned into We need Deano! I don't think many of our fans realised we'd signed the most recognisable player that Norway had at the time, and Norway were decent in the early 90's as you'll remember but sadly Flo was completely in the shadows of Swindon's Jan Aage Fjortoft who scored about 20 goals for them and they still went down!

I did too. Apex Services were, I think, my provider. :)
