Say goodbye to Brooks

It's funny how many of these runs he's goes on where gets lucky and beats the defenders time after time. Hey ho let's sell him then and then in 3 years time you can come on here and say how wrong you were.

He was playing against premier league defenders tonight so he's not going to win every time, but there were occasions where he had them on toast. Not a single other player we've had for 20 years can beat a man like David Brooks

No one should argue otherwise but pointing out his final ball was often poor is a statement on tonight rather than doubting his overall ability which is there for all to see.

They're are some doom and gloom irritating shit stirers on here when it comes to Brooks. He has bags of talent but it's raw though and despite his rapid rise he has a long way to go. Who says we are going to sell him? Who says he would want to go? He's been at a big club before and it got him nowhere. I think he will be more like Maguire and progress with us unless we are offered daft money but I doubt that will happen for a while yet. Let's just enjoy watching the lad grow into our team and learn under Wilder

Unfortunately clubs now will throw 2 million at a prospect and know within 12-18 months they have made it back on loan fees. Look at Ramsdale, Calvert Lewin - they had less game time and exposure than Brooks and clubs bought them. Ramsdale is about 5th choice. United will do well to hang onto him next week I feel. Clubs will chuck a few million our way and our board as they always do will panic. If they keep him to January even if we get say a 3-4 million bid, we could be talking a lot more money but we never do and sell far too quick. If Brooks and agent demand to leave it is a bit different but to me keeping him for 3 months is a win-win for all.

Ignore the Murder Inc sleeper cells looking for bites.

The difference is we don't need to sell and the the player is unlikely to push it. I'm not saying don't sell him, but when the time comes make it for daft money. Surely even our Kev can see the logic in turning down pisspot offers for him at the moment. DCL should have shown him that there are times when he has maybe snatched clubs hands off too quickly

To balance that 1 a little is jordan slew, got decent money but ended up a big flop.

You could see the potential, you could also see the deficiencies. Final ball, decision making, positional awareness; had problems with them all but they are all things that can be worked on and developed with time and willingness to learn. Biggest problem could be believing all the hype, but I hope Wilder can temper that.

Lad has been unreal tonight, different gravy.

No doubt with everyone watching on sky he'll be gone before the end if the window now.

Hope we take nothing less than £7m judging by the insane fees at the moment.
29 Scouts were there, all watching Brooks

That is the point, we all agree as fans we would achieve nothing by not selling but we have heard it time after time with SUFC. Why some of you suddenly think next week will be different I am not sure. Histroy has shown any kind of bid of sustance and McCabe will sell. He has done it time after time on the eve of windows. Ramsdale, DCL, Blackman, Beattie, Quinn....all off top of my head.

Why do we think next week will be different. We will get some bids. The only way he wiill not go is if clubs offer a pittance but anything north of a couple of million and we will be hearing the inevitable 'when a prem club comes knocking it is very hard...agent gets involved...could not stand in lads way....etc etc'

I'll give you Jordan Slew and raise you a Kyle Walker and a Harry Maguire. 2 players we have received just under 12m for but we're sold for combined fees upwards of 70m. Potential is worth a hell of a lot more these days. If and when the time is right we should start making the cash rich clubs pay the going rate now

Maybe it's me but it just feels different this time with Brooks big club history, the fact he's in no rush to go and what's happened with DCL. McCabe will be deserving of any backlash if your proven right this time around

No excuses for not getting a huge fee for him when he eventually does go, every prem side is absolutely loaded now.

If a huge bid comes in at the end of the season and we let him go then fair enough that's life, but if we let him go this transfer window when he would be worth double by the end of the season I'll be livid.

Every season I hear people say it will be different. My Father said to me 25 years ago, United always sell their best players. They always have done and always will. I scoffed. 25 years later I am saying the same to my son. Been no evidence in recent short or medium term history to suggest any different. I would play him Saturday as we may not see him after that. My feelings. Could be wrong but seen it time after time with United to not expect any different. Hope I am wrong.

Can see the talent but there are a lot of things he needs to improve on. decision making, his work rate and positional play when we don't have possession, strength etc. where's he going to have the best chance of improving fighting for a place in a Championship team or playing U23's in a pL academy? I think the fact that he's already experienced life at Man City and been bombed out there works in our favour, he's not a lad looking star struck at the PL in quite the same way that some of the other lads who have come through our academy because he's been there and he knows the down sides. I may be hopelessly deluded but I think he will stay.

The thing that impressed me more tonight about Brooks was his desire to track back and win the ball back, he did this a few occasions tonight and showed he has the right attitude to listen and learn in every aspect of the game. His final ball could be a bit off due to him learning other sides of the game but my oh my, when it all clicks we will have a top 5 or 6 Premier league player on our hands.

Wright played really well tonight, along with Baldock who when played against opponents from our own league week in week out will look even better than tonight. Some real positives out of tonight's game which I didn't necessarily expect.

Wilder has just said that he does not want Brooks to leave and wants him to stay at our football club for a long time.
The next week will be interesting!
He is the sort going forward that we build a team around, he also mentioned jack and flekky in the same light.
Wilder is confident we have something going, let's hope our owners agree in not only supporting him with new players but making sure his best players do not leave. I am confident that if this were to be the case CW would not be far behind!

MOTM by a clear distance. Any time we looked threatening it was always through him.

He's surely got to be starting on Sat.

Would be nice, just for once to see a proper talent progress in a Blades shirt. If they are ultimately too good for us then fine but let's get top dollar for them.

Thought the young man played well tonight. Remember he is new to this level. Watched him a lot last year and he can attack defenders in the box and constantly caused havock Very difficult to tackle with his long stride. There is a lot more to come

Think your wrong about this one Deadbeat the club know they have an exciting player on our hands ( just listen to Wilder inter interview ) He is a premiership quality player in the making and would fetch 5 million + now. We can easily double that and more given time,in the meantime let's enjoy him.Wilder says he's staying so unless some club offers mega bucks we can develop him ,. His value can only go up and up.

Struggling to jump on this bandwagon. Not impressed tonight. I'd pick Duffy and Carruthers ahead of him. Only really 1 run in 2nd half down right where was lucky to stumble through the initial challenges. Struggled to see any end product otherwise when in a good position.

Are you insane?
