Say goodbye to Brooks

He's excellent when running with the ball but needs to work on his end product, and at times his decision making could be better. He will be a brilliant player though.

Young players are almost always inconsistent and in my view it's their decision making that often comes through as being the main part of this inconsistency

CW is also of the view that inconsistency is part of a young players make up. How do I know? Because he told me

Lad has been unreal tonight, different gravy.

No doubt with everyone watching on sky he'll be gone before the end if the window now.

Hope we take nothing less than £7m judging by the insane fees at the moment.

Bet you he's at Leicester after that performance

Decent in patches but surprised he was voted man of the match. Jake Wright was the best player today, especially in the first half - he did some important blocks.

And every young fucker who left us has obviously wanted to leave otherwise they would have stayed brooks wants to stay he said so himself is that not enough for the fans who by the sounds of it actually want him to be sold so they can be proved right

Nowhere have I said I wanted Brooks to leave. In my last post on this thread I said to a fellow poster (who thinks the lad will stay) I hope he is proved right (and me wrong).

I don't trust our board, given their record. That's perfectly logical.

Oh and when a player says he wants to leave - if he is under contract he goes nowhere unless the board allow it.

Never mind the offer. What ya gonna do when a Prem team offers him ten times the wage? Becomes a little less simplistic then, doesn't it? Who's going to explain to Fleck, Sharp, Basham and Coutts why a kid with no grown-up credits on his CV is on twice their salary?

A little different though with those players you've mentioned, is it not? At 20 years old, those prem teams would pay 10x the wage for the potential he shows, not the credentials on his CV. It's exactly what Chelsea do, the number of players Chelsea have on their books is ridiculous, just in case they turn out to be world-class. Even if a Prem team does come along and offer him daft money, we still have to agree to sell, granted this can be difficult if the player tries to force a move

Sell him and loan him back for the season is an option we could look at. His agent will be being tapped up, we all know this goes off, If a Prem club offers him £20k a week which is chicken feed for them, he will want to go.

Let's get a decent deal for him.

Right now we have bigger things to think about, mainly the lack of decent options up front.

Struggling to jump on this bandwagon. Not impressed tonight. I'd pick Duffy and Carruthers ahead of him. Only really 1 run in 2nd half down right where was lucky to stumble through the initial challenges. Struggled to see any end product otherwise when in a good position.
Sorry, cannot agree. His first touch, control, trickery, speed of thought, taking men on and creation were the reason why he deservedly got MOTM.

2 great prospect's in sheffield in brooks and hirst, both will go and then be loaned out which is a shame as not to see their talent developed in sheffield.

There's a lot of young players who have close control and can beat players. However with attacking midfielders it's the end product that people will pay the £££ for. At the moment he doesn't have it.

Prick.

Got to start Saturday surely. Cant see whose partnering Sharp after tonights game tho.

I thought Lavrey had been poor mid way through the second half but to give him some credit, he kept hassling and running. The goal was a great strike and I wonder how many times he's played 90 minutes in the year he's been with us?

I'm not saying he is currently good enough for the Championship but maybe he might still have a part to play.

Brooks and Billy for me on Saturday, has to be worth a try.

So it seems it's not our fans getting excited by some kid in a Blades shirt

At least others notice the kid is potentially up there

“Nice, professional performance in the end, were just too good in the end. Actually some decent performances.Wonder how much that Brooks kid would cost us? “

“Fitst half was absolutely dire but second half we really stepped it up and it turned into a very easy game for us. Slimani and Gray particularly impressive with Musa also growing into the game after a horrendous start. Also rudders should be sticking a bid in for that Brooks lad, looks a real talent. “

“almost all Blades attacks went through our left (Chilwell & Gray). Brooks quite the handful, we should keep tabs on him.”

“That Brooks for them looks a decent player”

“Thought that Sheffield United’s youngster, Brookes, in midfield looks promising. Keep an eye for him”

“I think some people tonight have been indoctrinated by the Sky commentators salivating over him. He looked about 12 years old and played in a team that lost 4-1.”

I though there for a minute it was just my bladey bladeness shining through my red & white tinted specs

I at least want to see him play for a few fucking months, we can't spend £1m all summer, receive £7m odd in transfer add-ons and then sell a lad who's going to play for England. With the nonsense prices clubs are playing, we would get £10m+ for him, but it's not enough.

The board have NO legitimate reason to sell Brooks, we already have money to burn, so what would we do with another 10 million? CW's strange interview this week about bringing in players, seemed to indicate we have to clear a bit of expenditure before we bring anyone in? Very strange.
I am getting very dismayed at them in charge, many on here say don't worry we still have 8 days until the window closes? I'm not so sure, come on Mcabe and Princy prove me wrong!

That may be but the board cannot sell a player to any club nor can they be loaned out to any club if the player doesn't want to go there the player can refuse the contract even when a bid has been accepted and then the talks break down
Brooks said he wants to stay here for the same thing he's getting now in the match day 18 trying to get into the first team he'll stay with us

So we've got money to burn, need to clear some expenditure and then an appeal to the owners to prove you wrong but you are "dismayed".

Any other bases to cover?

It's funny how many of these runs he's goes on where gets lucky and beats the defenders time after time. Hey ho let's sell him then and then in 3 years time you can come on here and say how wrong you were.

He was playing against premier league defenders tonight so he's not going to win every time, but there were occasions where he had them on toast. Not a single other player we've had for 20 years can beat a man like David Brooks

Selling him now would be ridiculous when he'd be worth much more by the end of the season.

So no doubt we'll sell him by the close of the window.

The ways the prices are going up, in 5 years he'll be worth we'll over 50 million, maybe 75 million.

The reason we shouldn't sell Brooks (IF we don't have to because the player doesn't force it) is that he could be worth a heap more, come the end of the season.

He was good tonight. Not great. Remember Michael Tonge against Liverpool? Hopefully, he becomes a great player to our advantage, he certainly looks to have the potential. But this talk of big money is silly.
