Lads who are released from academy’s aged 16-18 should be given the chance to go straight to a FA intensive course and fast tracked through the system over the next 7-10 years if they are any good.
Most will have been at academy’s from the age of 8, given their all to football and then just dumped, some will be involved in exit trials, some will be picked up but they are the lucky ones as it’s in the high 90% that don’t make it in football. They might not have had the talent to play senior football but most will know the game inside out and be extremely clued up having lived and breathed it so they really are ripe pickings for the FA.
