Aye but that means diddly squat dont it. Dont forget we were in for Berge when we were newly promoted but he didnt want to sign for a club that may go straight back down. It was only after we were comfortably away from relegation that he signed in January.

I would wager on the relegation release minimum fee being weighted in Berge's favour so that established clubs would be less reluctant coming in for him at a bargain price

How in God's green earth is a release clause for £15 million going to be set for a player that cost us £22.5 million.

Not a chance

Well he can't be worth more than what we paid ,logik dictates that ...
Hes been average ....

Why ??
He cost us about the same as a Chelsea 4 year old who's proven nothing

Bang average in a shit team, still makes him better than most this year

Shit team is the biggest clue

Sander Berge is not a right sided midfielder
And he's not a midfielder that spends 90 minutes parked 5 yards in front of the centre halves either.

Just because club retard can't get the best out of him doesn't mean he should be offloaded for whatever we can get for him.

I don't think the release clause means as much when we are relegated. Any serious offer will be considered and it will reduce the wage bill as his replacement won't earn as much. We will probably end up getting what we paid for him and if it is more then that is a bonus.

We will get 10 / 15 million .....if we get more fair enough im wrong .....to be honest if he had come through ranks was called Paul Smith from Rotherham and performed exactly like for us like sander has ..we would be looking at 500 k ...
He will never play for us again ....

Completely agree. I don’t want him to leave, you can see he’s quality footballer who had to find his feet in a new league, playing in a team with no confidence and out of position. It’s the reason he was average. His potential is huge and his fee should represent that. It’s a shame his buy out clause sounds close to what we purchased him for.

There's a difference between minimum fee release clause and relegation release clause.

The price required to be met for Berge once relegated will be significantly less than any minimum fee release clause if we stayed in the EPL

If we get less than 30 someone's had our pants down majorly

Berge's release clause was set when we were flying high. It will be for more than we paid, of course it will. Probably £30m

If the release amount isn't met he's our player in the Championship and if he doesn't pull any trees up he will disappear off the radar of every decent club around Europe.

Now of course if we get off to a shitty start and we're 12th at Christmas, Old PA might want to offload to finance a few that might improve us and so a few cheeky bids might come in to tempt the old rascal so yes I can see him going for £15m or so but if we're top 6 and he's a regular, the world can go interfere with themselves unless they meet the release clause.

Whatever the negatives about Lawrence, he's way sharper than Our Kev and I don't think we'll let one of our main assets go for a Sticky Bun and a bazooka joe (one for the oldies)

Tbh a season in a physical league like the Championship would actually do him more good than going to someone like Liverpool and sitting on their bench. But this is 2021, he'll like sitting on Liverpools spongey bench.

When he's singled out as seeing the club as a stepping stone (which I have no problem with) it seems fairly obvious that if that stone sinks we'll have to let him go. We'll get our money back. We'll be a Championship club which reduces his value but he's shown he can compete in the Premier League.

Seeing as CW,s release clause was 50 m I'm sure Sanders will be upwards of 30 m ,Abdulla ain't a mug
It was 15m, not 50m mate. Though I appreciate they sound almost the same!

I'd be amazed if we got a player for 22m who is based on potential and development yet had a release clause that gives us a 7m loss or more.

Has he ?? I must have missed that one

How come whenever Sander Berge playing poorly gets brought up, it's because all the other players are shit, but when assessing the other players, they just are shit?
If bids do come in from big clubs that have scouted him extensively before and after his spell here, maybe it will be easier to understand.

The club put out that he wouldn’t be going for a significant fee, which was confirmed by the journalist to be more than £30M.
Why on earth would a buying club insert a release clause for less than you paid? It makes no sense whatsoever.

Specifically telling a journalist a figure before accepting a significantly lower one also is totally illogical. Why would an under fire board actively shoot themselves in the foot by putting this out there when they didn’t need to say anything?
No one would have been surprised if we’d accepted an offer for him but they’ve set a bar.

I wonder if a lot of Blades fans expected a Fernandes, although Berge is more of a Matic.

Our team and tactics haven't worked at all this season and individual players have looked worse than they really are. Complete opposite to last season. Berge isn't the flair type who could lift us up from the mud.

If clubs will bid for him this summer it will be because they think their team needs a Matic type.

I think he's style of play is glaringly different to the way we play. I suspect that might be less noticeable if we were a side with high possession. I suspect a much bigger team than us with give us our money back for him.
