He's got players around him who were the 5th best team in England before lockdown though. He's got players around him who've proved they can perform in the Premier League. He's literally the only one who hasn't amongst our midfielders, so it doesn't really make sense to use that excuse.
I don't think Wilder signed him or wanted him, and he's had a massive monk on ever since.I honestly don't think Wilder signed him. He stands out like a saw thumb. He's going to be a quality player but doesn't fit into how we play. The wettest tall guy I've ever seen as well. Have he ever won a header?! We looked like he was trying to be more in their faces first half but looked like a headless chicken.
I suspect he will leave us before long. Arsenal seem interested and they need players.
You're either blind or stupid if you think Berge has offered very little. The team was better before we signed him. Yes, there are other factors, but I genuinely don't think that it's 'clear' we should build our team around a player who has offered very little since he joined us.
Try January. I really think the kid would benefit from being in a better team. We on the other hand will finish off the season with a much more Championship tailored team. If a West Ham, Villa or Palace come sniffing around and the price is right.........I’d bite their fucking arms off.Too good for us. He will be off at the end of the season. Wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't already instructed his agent to sound out some clubs.
Berge didn't do anything before lockdown either.I think we can all see our players were punching well above their weight prior to lockdown.
If we do go down which of our midfielders would Premiership clubs be after ?
Put him in Leicester's midfield and he would be a even better player than he has been so far with us.

I’ll have a very confident charity bet that nobody will pay £30m -£40m if we sold him. He’s that crap that someone will pay around 30-40m for him if he moves , fgs just cos you can’t have pop at mcburnie someone else cops it ... he’s a reyt player
Without checking the stats I believe that since he’s signed he’s scored more than Fleck, Norwood and Lundstram combined hasn’t he?Genuinely interested to know what you think he has offered? He's been largely ineffective for me ever since he signed. He doesn't dominate the midfield, doesn't score and doesn't create chances. So, what has he offered?
Composure, technique, picks a pass, ability to ghost past players...none of the other midfielders we have can offer what he provides. Plus he is younger than all of them. We need to change the system. Play Berge in the middle with a partner. If he's our best player we should be trying to get the best out of him, rather than trying to "shoehorn him in."
Agree we should ditch the flat midfield 3At this stage of the season I don't see any value in sticking with a flat three midfield. We're narrowly losing games and it's time we tried to go for it as we are close to 'nothing to lose' territory.
I'd stick him behind the front two and my lineup would be
Ramsdale
Basham Egan Ampadu
Baldock Norwood Fleck Osborn
Berge
McBurnie McGoldrick

Wouldn’t expect you to. We should expect more but I’m suggesting he’s not being helped at all by non-contributing midfielders around him. Why bother paying any attention to any of the other three when you can double up on Berge and negate our only threat from midfield. It’s too easy for teams to do that, but that is not his fault. He's scored one goal from open play and a penalty...forgive me for not doing cartwheels over those stats.
Spot on. Sander makes a run, looks up, all have gone hiding, only maradona would be able to do something more constructive when his midfield team mates get vertigo anywhere close to the opponent's 18 yard box.Wouldn’t expect you to. The team was playing at its limits, we didn’t have the depth. But yes the team was fantastic. The team was better before we signed him. Yes, there are other factors, but I genuinely don't think that it's 'clear' we should build our team around a player who has offered very little since he joined us.
You could be right he gets caught in possession too often for my liking. He's obviously got talent but not a natural athlete which with the game being as fast as it is at this level makes him look slow. This lad obviously has more talent than the other players in the squad, but I think we are a worse team with him in it. Sadly he just doesn't fit our style, and no matter where we try and shoehorn him in the side it just doesn't quite work. I'd consider selling him in January, and reinvest the funds on a creative midfielder (assuming we can get our money back for him). In my opinion, he's a player who'd thrive in France or Spain where you get more time on the ball, not sure the Premier league suits him. I'm sure I'll get slated for this, but just my opinion.

It’s another way of looking at it for sure. But as I keep coming back to, Lundstram was running on fumes by January - so what was the alternative?Alternatively, if your stat that his couple of goals means he has scored more than the others combined is right, you could see it that his arrival has completely stifled the rest of our midfield. Wasn’t Lundstram one of, if not our leading scorer when Berge signed?
Scout and sign a more like-for-like replacement who fit into our system at the time. It’s another way of looking at it for sure. But as I keep coming back to, Lundstram was running on fumes by January - so what was the alternative?
