Not at all. Steady building. Signing these kind of players helps keep the current crop of talent we have at the lane (JOC etc) by showing them ambition.

Don’t get me wrong if he signs and performs then fantastic ...but to stop harping on and being actually correct but we wouldn’t be signing a “ stand out talent in European football “ for £20 mill ..and a quarter of the wages a “ stand out talent in European football “ would command ...how obvious can it be ...

No I would love to sign as many players as we can for as much as we can ...it’s not my money ...it just winds me up when people make mind boggling statements about people’s ability based on you tube , one live game and some twat on sky sports who knows fk all ...

We are just in a copy n paste society I guess ...

Anyway GLTL when he signs I will be cheering him on regardless ...

Winds me up when Muppets like you are stupendously negative on a consistent basis. But 🤷‍♂️ we all have our flaws I guess.
 
Like I say, I personally don't know that much about any of the players we've been linked with and I really hope the deals come off and they prove to be valuable assets to the team and the football club.
Always trust Sir Chris with his judgement etc and on the whole his recruitment, along with his and the other staff's ability to improve players is, by enlarge, unquestionable and pretty unbelievable really.
Just hope people give whatever players do come in the chance to "bed in" and the level of expectation isn't exaggerated due to any large price tag attached either.
For example, from what I gather, Sander Berge is a defensive midfielder who will be brought in to do a particular job so I'm kind of guessing / hoping that he's a more skilful version of say a Monty who can simply pass and shoot a hell of a lot better!!
But at the same time . . . . . I'm not expecting him to be the next Messi either.😁

Look on social media there are loads of fans all over the world that support Man Utd, Spurs, Everton and Napoli etc. That are wanting their club to sign Sander Berge, to say he is not coveted or rated as a top talent in europe is ignorant. "deluded" is also becoming quite the buzzword on this forum. And also if you have at all watched him in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE or when Genk won the JPL he stands out as one of the best prospects to ever emerge from that division thats why we are looking to break the record fee of a player from that league to sign him.

Talksport put a report on their website yesterday saying if he comes to England then his likely destination will be Liverpool but Chelsea are also keen.
Its funny how they automatically assume he’ll only want to go to a big 6 club and show how he’d fit in the midfields at Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd.
No mention about the likelihood of him coming here.

I don’t think people should underestimate the reality that our league position and fact we didn’t go overboard with our spending in the summer probably has put us in an advantageous position should this transfer come off. It’s clear that other clubs are/were interested in him, but perhaps for whatever reason they aren’t willing to spend £20m plus on him at this precise moment in time. We in contrast are.

I feel this is the sort of deal that had we left it to the summer we might have faced much more competition for his services.
