Berge comes in then we might see Lunny leave.
If it’s true Lunny and his agent are trying to play hard ball with the new contract he may find himself sold on to make way for this lad.

Also be interesting to see what we do with Besic. He’s done well, but not so much as a peep whether we are looking to try and sign him permanently.
But a midfield of Berge, Norwood and Fleck looks useful.

that would be midfield sorted for next season in the premier, and we could spend the summer window trying to resolve the front line threat and creativity.

If he’s as good as all that, why is he playing in Belgium ?

Genk is a very good schooling for young talent and they are champions. Belgium are producing plenty of good players, and I did say at the start of the season that Verrips wouldn't be the only player we were looking at over there. Rip Van Winckel is the obvious link and connection.

And to tell us no bids have been received

If he had any intent on signing for us, his agent wouldn't have contacted Sky Sports live on air to basically tout him out.

SSN didn't say it was his current Agent but an Agent who had links with Berge. He didn't "tout him out" but said the deal wasn't done, there was other interest and a lot of work to do...….but we knew all that before the SSN piece with West Ham and Burnley also interested....

BERGE TELLS GENK HE WANTS OUT
Norwegian international midfielder Sander Berge has told Genk he wishes to leave the club before Friday’s transfer deadline, with Sheffield United favourites to sign him.
The 21-year old and his agent Morten Wivestad met with senior officials from Genk late last night to convince them to let Berge leave - with a move to the Premier League his most likely destination.
Negotiations between Genk and United on a potential £20m transfer are understood to be continuing.
But with Friday’s deadline looming it's thought a breakthrough is likely in the next 48 hours.

I think if he signs (big if) it'd be a statement and we'd be much less likely to lose JOC etc. Lunny would also revert to a Back up player.

If we sign Berge......it really weakens Lunny’s agents position.
Imagine our reaction if Lunny is wanting to be the highest paid player at the club?

Lunny should sign our offer as quickly as possible because his window of opportunity is closing by the week.
or he might decide not to sign anything and leave on a free when his contract ends.
....but would there be any PL teams interested when he’s hardly getting a game here?

This is a lad who has played in the CL this season. Ridiculous. I love it. Reyt player.

Saw an interesting point regarding Besic on the back of The Stir of all places yesterday (stopped clock right twice a day and all that); his loan is locked in, so cant be recalled. So we are not making any moves until summer. Makes 100% sense; we get to assess him close up for another 4/5 months; he’ll be another season down on his Everton contract; we can tap him up easily; and we’ll know what pond we’re fishing in for next season.

Think Roy might struggle to get some info/ feedback from the Genk forum.
However he’s what I’ve found written yesterday on the Everton forum from Everton fans living in Belgium and know their league.

View point 1
He's technical as anything. Lovely passer. But he's similar to Gomes in that he's not a particularly responsible defensive player, not particularly quick - I mean, he's huge and doesn't really need to be, and usually propped up by a sitting defensive player so he can be in a semi-free role. He's been on the market for over a year and while he does look a bit more well rounded this year, not sure he'd be good for us. But he's talented, he could be a monster.

He is relatively quick. Has run 40 metres in 4.7 seconds, Is good at carrying the ball through the opponent's lines. Decent passer but plays at low risk. Ordinary technique - nothing special. His position is DM, but has also been used as CB in the past. Despite his young age, he has struggled a lot with injuries, and the question is whether he can withstand the intensity of the PL
