Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

20m would be a staggeringly good fee. Classic example of exploiting loaded PL clubs late in the window

Fulham would be the best fit for him out of all those mentioned

This is good for us if we're allowed to get a replacement, I'm convinced of it - but the replacement needs to be good, if not a direct replacement. OBrien would be a great one

If we got promoted with him and he stayed (likely I'd say) then we'd be obliged to shoehorn him into the team, when I don't think he'd be suitable or good enough. We could do better. Selling now rids us of this problem before it manifests, but again, we need a replacement for this season

If he does go to Fulham it would surely make sense to do a deal for Onomah to come here at the same time. Compare their positions, their strengths, physical profiles etc.... and you'll see that there are very few better direct replacements

If its Newcastle then Elliot Anderson would be a good one to sign, looks impressive and has that physicality aspect too, different position/type though

Gonna be a busy next two days in the office. 1st check the fax machine, 2nd get money upfront to pay off embargo hold. 3rd go thru list of replacements in the "in case we sell Berge" file and 4th call agents, managers etc ad 5th chop chop, times a ticking

Princey asking his cousin at NUFC for some munneh.

Hopefully they'll pay ridiculously over the top for Sander.

£20m. I bet within 2 months of not training on a bog in Sheffield, struggling to stay fit, Fulham will be delighted with the bargain they've got. Much like Arsenal are with Ramsdale
They’ve definitely not signed a bargain for £20m for a player with 18 months left on his deal.

They’ve signed a decent player for the right value from a club that needs the money.

On the training ground look at Watfords injury record at the moment, we’re not the only ones

To be fair, the fact that the forum has met the news of his possible departure with a collective shrug says to me that a lot of what you said about Berge was true.
He’s not in the squad today, so I suspect my prediction a premier league team won’t buy him will be shot.

Fee will be undisclosed, so we won’t know about the other two. :)

You say 18 months left like it's a short amount of time. It's half the average contract. Values don't really start to depreciate until 12 to 6 months left.

Like you say though, we evidently need the money and don't have much choice

Imagine being in the PL next season, having 30% possession, carrying a passenger in Berge. Wouldn't be ideal would it?

Selling him now especially at a good price is a welcome opportunity

Replace him for this season, and plan towards putting together the sort of team with round pegs in round holes that can be competitive in the hardest league in the world

He can begin talks to sign for a foreign team for free this time next year. I don’t think he signs a new deal for us as there’s a risk he’s quickly a championship player again.

We’ll be favourites to go down so he wouldn’t sign a new deal in the summer. By the time he considers a new deal with us ie half way through the season he’s likely to be getting tapped up by others

Listen to Hecky’s last interview and you will understand why we are not an attractive proposition at the moment. Starting with embargo, go to possible sales not renewing contracts of consistent performers etc etc.
I don’t completely agree with this. I think we are attractive once Berge goes & we deal with the embargo issue.

We have 5 months to sort contracts & we’re highly likely to be promoted. A new owner would get a return on their money pretty quickly.

We own all the club assets too.

Good post, OBrien would be ideal but there are a few after him.
To cover ourselves we need to agree a suitable loan with the buying club.

if we have to sell a player to keep us afloat would much sooner it was berge and not illiman hes done nothing in the last 4 games
To be honest

Did you listen to the interview? If you can’t renew a contract of some of the players who have got us in this position and their agents have been instructed to try to do a deal with the club but the club cannot then agents talk to each other, players talk to each other and so on. Mid December the writing was on the wall (I did state them at the end of December)

18 months is a fair enough time left on a contract and certainly not a sort of length where bargains are to be had.

Yes & unfortunately we are in the position we are now. You mentioned the other day that the potential new owners are still keen & have paid two deposits. I don’t know why that would change between then & now?

I get that we’ve got a lot of players who are expiring but it’s a club you’re buying for the long term & if you’ve enough wealth you either sign new players or you begin contract talks asap upon completion of purchase
