Liverpool play an energetic, high pressing game.

Sander Berge doesn't.

I can't see him being the sort of player Liverpool are after.

However, they have got a lot of injuries so there might be something on this.

After charging us top dollar for Brewster when we were desperate, hopefully we will do the same...........

Josh Onomah would be the one

Or Bowler if we were to replace with a more out and out wide attacker

Or Chong to be a bit of a combination of both?
Why do you rate Onomah?

Personally I think he’s well short of what we’d need.

He only made the starting XI 8 times for Fulham last season including the absolute shellacking we gave them in the last match. Season before he made 4 starts. If we are targeting Fulham players I’d expect regulars from last season who are being pushed down by new arrivals, not those who couldn’t hold down a spot last season. Just my two cents. All about opinions of course.

He played for Wednesday before that and started just 10 games.

Bowler I would agree would be an interesting player especially with just a year left on his deal and Blackpool being one of the smaller clubs might find it difficult to turn down.

For Berge I’d just say to Liverpool there is no negotiation. He has a release fee. Pay it. Otherwise you’re wasting everyone’s time and unfairly unsettling the player. We don’t wish to sell with just days left. So you trigger his 35m release and that’s it. Absolutely no interest in you shaving off 5-10m. You’re desperate for a midfielder, we’re desperate to keep him. That’s the deal.

Earlier on we may have accepted less but no point now as we can’t make it work for us. Full deal or no deal.

Onomah's had a quiet season or two but has shown his abilities in the past. Tall, rangy ball carrier like Berge but with more flair and quicker feet. CM or AM, right sided. Good at breaking forward and getting his team up the pitch.

Wouldn't expect him to play every game like Berge, but he and Khadra between them could replace him

I don't see any more viable options in Fulham's squad. Only other 2 not in their 25 are Knockaert and Cavaleiro, who don't seem to be what they were

Agree. I was more referring to the status of players I.e. taking promoted team’s players who drop down from being regulars rather than specific players.

Fulham’s squad looks quite poor in terms of depth. Amazing what shortcomings can be hidden when you have a guy scoring 40+ goals!

I don’t find the teams that went up that well equipped in terms of squad. Forest obviously woeful and got up on someone else’s players hence the piss taking levels of recruitment. Bournemouth also been shown up. Maybe Lowe or Dembele there. Otherwise the rest I can see involved.

It does highlight how Slav ballsed it up. If we had Hecky we would have walked second place notwithstanding Mitrovic’s goals being enough to get Fulham top, plus of course the double figure points Bournemouth were gifted by reffing decisions would have drawn them down.

If we had Hecky then we wouldn’t have any fit players left for this season

I agree with all of this tbh.

Spot on. Klopp’s midfielders are box-to-box, pressing machines. Sander doesn’t have the right qualities to fit into their system.

He’s also just not good enough to play for Liverpool. Players who look very average against Luton Town rarely are. Happy to keep him as he’s a great asset for us.

If I were one of our players, I’d be it utterly fuming about the idea that “he’ll look better around better players as well”, basically saying our lot are too shite to make him look good.

There’s nothing stopping Sander looking great every game but Sander himself.

Thiago isn’t and it’s Thiago that they are looking to replace. That being said I don’t think Berge is good enough for Liverpool.

If Tielemans leaves Leicester I could see them going for Berge. They seem to need strengthening/depth in every position and with the £80m they are getting for fofana, they may add a midfielder anyway.

The vast majority of clubs in Europe are skint so I can’t see any one who would be interested in him having enough cash to buy him. I think he’s very likely to stay at United.

I think he’s on his way. Heard rumours he’s not in the squad tomorrow 🤷🏼 Though I’m no Sunjihi
There's a blade on twitter who said he's not in the squad, but it's pure speculation. Anyone saying anything is none the wiser than any of us

Thing is, when it's Liverpool or Man U , absolutely every news outlet, however small or big will speculate on every potential signing. For us it just amplifies it, still think it's a load of people second guessing though, you find as many articles saying Liverpool have said they're not interested as you do ones that says they're considering a late move

If he was to leave..... who the hell would be signing him?

Napoli? They might have a lot of money coming in, involving the loss of a CM

Monaco? Could have something left from their big annual sale

Liverpool - are they lying?

It's slim pickings in terms of suitors unless we significantly lower the asking price

If he is leaving, we need to be ready to go with at least 2 signings, with at least one permanent. LWB, CM and CF should all be strengthened if we can

Not being a twat (probably am) but we don't bloody know do we?!! Us lot saying he wouldn't fit in at Liverpool/we reckon he's their 3rd/4th choice etc, or that we've heard some lad on Twitter say he's going, makes absolutely fuckall difference to if he does or not. Until Richard Cadette says summat, let's just see.

Besides, he can look superb (sometimes, normally at home) but if he did go, Reda or Ndiaye or McAtee can play there.... shouldn't we a bit more worried about not having a single centre mid fit than can win a challenge and be concentrating on getting someone in of that type instead?
