Safe Standing consultation

After experiencing the North Stand at half time today, the actual viewing area should be of secondary concern to the authorities to the absolute death trap that is the concourse level...

Stood at Villa for the duration of the game (didn't we all)
Stood at Burton
Stood at Yeovil
Stood at Exeter
Stood at Brentford

Have a bad back (football injury) but still prefer to stand to watch my footie - I can sit in the bloody pub

It's BOLLOX that I cant stand at the Lane!
........and yes, those surges on the Kop were fucking brilliant

...... set of namby pamby, excuse hunting, do gooder, hope erasing, fun suppressing, monochrome, monotone, moronic self appointed moralistic mindfuckers. TWATS the lot of them!

A couple of weeks ago I was in the standing area for Munich 1860 v St Pauli in the Allianz Arena, Munich. The standing area is created by simply tipping the seats up. There are a few crash barriers but not many. I was with the St Pauli fans who spent the whole game singing, jumping around and generally having a good time. There was abs0lutely no problem. I cant see any good argument against reintroducing standing areas.
same as in Austria .. the seats are for sitting down on at half time.. the moral minority will block it though.. can't have these working class people and footballing types enjoying the game.. i'm off to a rugby match.. standing of course.. funny thing is that everyone stands up anyway once the ball is near that particular end

That's impressive grafikhaus. Surely a designated area could be found? Love the use of the Bonnie Tyler song too, how easy it'd be to 'liberate' that as a Blades anthem with appropriate lyrics. It's anthemic, rousing, and would sound great on match-day.

No need to change the lyrics, they are perfect for the Blades already:-

"It's a heartache
Nothing but a heartache
Hits you when it's too late
Hits you when you're down

It's a fool's game
Nothing but a fools game
Standing in the cold rain
Feeling like a clown"

In case you missed the recent important updates on this and are interested...

- The Football League's meeting last week revealed that there was a strong majority of clubs that replied Yes to all four of the consultation questions, with the Football Supporters Federation stating this was 70%. As mentioned in the SLO meeting notes by Foxy, United were one of the supportive clubs
- following this, the League is now committed to taking the issue forward to the relevant authorities to enable the necessary change in the regulations to happen
- Bristol City has pressed ahead with building a trial section of rail seating, with the intention of installing more in the redevelopment of Ashton Gate. At the minute, these areas won't be allowed to be used for football till the regulations are changed, but can be used in rugby matches held there

And this is the kind of emotional rhetoric you're up against:

Don't go back to standing! Hillsborough disaster victims group in emotional plea after United back safe return to the terraces

The families of the Hillsborough disaster victims urged Premier League clubs to reject proposals for safe-standing areas to be introduced on Friday night after Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward declared his support for the campaign...

Ironically, whenever I've been to Anfield, most people are stood up in "non-safe" standing areas.

I have no idea why big media keeps quoting the mouthy one that opposes all standing from that group, rather than the other one that the FSF quotes that's all in favour of it.

And with all due respect to their loss, what's it got to do with them anyway?

It's not like anyone is advocating bringing cages back.
