All those who are up for getting rid now, need only to remember what happened two years ago after we sacked Wilson........fuck all!

Now is not the time..

Im just happy we have another thread talking about sacking our manager. Its brilliant on here. Can we add it to the magic 8 ball with new kits, neoliberals and Warnock?

Not sure we can have enough threads on this subject.... just disappointed there isn't a poll as well

Depends what's in the wings to replace
If it's Morgs, then no change - he was a great centre half for us but not a manager
If it's Mourinho then I think it might make a difference
There's a a whole spectrum in between - the major fault with the Wilson sacking (and let's not forget we looked very poor at that time as well) was the lack of an inspirational replacement - too late to make the desired impact with so few games left to play.

If they give NC the next 3 games and he screws the lot then that will be too late as well.
Clough has to see the task out IMO otherwise the board will look stupid if they replace him now and the new feller fails. If Clough fails this season they have the ready made scapegoat - if they alter it now they are taking a big gamble but if they do nothing they could instigate a huge amount of unrest and distrust. It's a pretty delicate balance.

Hallelujah! I thought I was the only one who'd noticed! :)

Allus said we were struggling at the time - it was shite - we couldn't score, we didn't trouble the oppo keeper enough, we were susceptible to the sucker punch, we were slow to build and drew far too many games. I thought it was deja vu but I'd seen it all before.

The OP's leadership credentials need no further comment. Bedrockism's really are the way forward if we're to realise our status as a powerbase fit for european competition. Amongst a sea of agitated nail-biting and bottom lip biting, is there any other option than to sit tight and follow the OP's example?

...but enough about Clough. What did you think of Wilson? :D

About time someone with authority at the club took the bull by the horns. Whichever way you look at it Clough is not our future. Get rid now and bring in Adkins whilst he has chance to assert himself and take us up. Anything else is delaying the inevitable.

Come to that, why not appoint the bull? At least he's got the horn and that should be motivation enough for the spunkless wasters on the payroll?

You do realise that keeping Wilson might have ended up with the same result? e.g. still in League One

Yes YES Blade I do. I also realise why he was sacked. My OP was aimed at anyone who believes sacking Clough is the only chance we have of promotion.

So what your saying is that if we keep Clough we could go up or we might not and if we sack Clough we could go up or we might not.

Great thread!

No YES Blade. I'm saying that all those who are up for getting rid now, need only to remember what happened two years ago after we sacked Wilson........fuck all! Thought I'd covered this in the OP.

.....and yes YES Blade. It is a great thread. Thank you.

But you agreed that we might not have gone up if we kept Wilson.

So whoever is the manger, we don't know how the season will turn out.

We were also pipped by someone who sacked their manager at the death of the season before.

Of course I agreed that YES Blade. Of the many things I am, psychic is not one of them.

However. In keeping with the theme of the thread, I will say this.....

There was no pre planning , just a knee jerk reaction . The board like the fans thought Morgan would manage and motivate like he did on the pitch . We were all wrong . One mistake you can live with , going down the same route would be madness .

Whether Clough is the right or wrong man , the next 3 games will tell us . In saying that we will still go up.

Speak for yourself. The consensus on here, I seem to recall, was that it was a stupid sacking, with the few dissenters being people who would back any move the club made irrespective of its merit.

One of the rules of the Blades is there's never a "new manager effect". It may happen at teams like Barnsley and the pigs, but not at the Lane. If we're in relegation trouble, sacking the manager won't help. We'll go down whatever. Similarly, if we look like blowing promotion, sacking the manager won't make a blind bit of difference. We'll blow it no matter who's in charge.

Onwards and upwards, Blades.

It was a ill timed stupid sacking.by the board , but Imo it was a knee jerk reaction . Ok any manager cannot please the fans all of the time , but Wilson starting off with a car park demonstration did not help at all.

The were more than a few dissenters in the ground at the time , and they were definitely fans in the stand who wanted the blades to fail so he got the boot.

Wilso had to go about his day job , with 2 hand tied behind his back. In saying that are we any better off or moved forward . No we are at a stand still.

Any way , lets not do the same with Clough. It the players who ultimately get the manager sacked by the board , by under performing and the fans reaction.

I agree that it was knee jerk: Paul Walker asked McCabe to explain the sacking and he was unable to do so beyond saying we hadn't won at home for a while.

I would not fire Clough now, fwiw. But before I'd give him any money in the close season I'd need very strong indiccations of what he intended to use it for. Plus if we don't finish top 6 that may well make me pull the trigger.
