Sack Wilder

I hope the people leading the takeover are reading this forum and following all our wonderful advice.

If they are, In the past 5 says they would have given Wilder a new long term deal because he has led a great summer transfer window and saw our reserves beat the hollywood and today sacked him for a completely unacceptable draw.
 
We can have a moan but we are stuck with him for the foreseeable the new crew if they ever appear will sack him immediately

Just watched Bayern Munich win 4-0. They have a mixed race manager. Isn't it about time we considered a black manager with fresher ideas?

If the above isn't acceptable why should ageism be acceptable?
 
Early days with a new team but yesterday we saw 3 shots on target and a team out played most of the second half by an average QPR side.
We can put it down to alot of new players who haven't had time to find any rhythm yet due to being assembled on recently .
However it felt a familiar , not particularly progressive or dominant and after the 1st half hour a bit predictable.
If we are to have new owners imminently, my experience of business along with observing how football works is that anything less than a convincing start will see wilder being replaced.
I'm not calling for wilder to be sacked , just thinking of how this is likely to play out.
If wilders ability to get the team and squad to play to thier potential is limited by his own talent for coaching and tactics it will soon become apparent.
I'm all for giving him a chance to get it right , but he's going to have to act quickly to convince the new regime , if not he'll be moved on .
 
He has all summer to build a squad, which is gelling together, gets two wins and a draw in the first 3 games, then some want him sacked.

That's how to run a business and build a football club.

Judge him at Christmas - in this division you can pull it round after Christmas if you need to.
 
There is no way he gets until Christmas. The new owners will accept nothing but promotion and are investing as such. Wilder lost his balls in that second season in the prem and never got them back. Every time we go in front in games he slams the brakes on and stops the players from attacking and sits in to defend the win and they just start smashing it long to a big man up front or the keeper stops throwing it short and then just smashes it long, back to the opposition. One day he may realise once again that the best form of defence is attack, before he lost his balls he never sat them back and just kept going for it. Sitting in with 70 mins to go with 2 players in a defence that shipped 104 goals last season is mental, he either gets his mojo back sharpish or he gets the bullet as I doubt the new owners will want to see us bottle games and throw away leads by stopping the players attacking and sitting in once we’re in front.

Think they will act if we're not in contention at Christmas, I didn't want Wilder back, but give him till then and then act, team should have gelled by then, if not get someone else in, let him take his defensive coaches with him

New owners tend to want their own man, I can't recall many takeovers where a new manager wasn't appointed within 3-4 months.

I didn't want Bassett to go in 1995 but the difference in football styles between Bassetts last game and Kendalls first was unbelievable.

We have a good squad of players and I don't accept that bollocks Wilder said after the game, if they aren't doing what he said he needs to change it. I manage people and if they don't do what I'm saying I can't just go up the chain and say sorry they won't do what your asking.
 
The Wilder situation will be the first test for the owners, the carry on yesterday would hopefully be informing them further on how they need to handle the situation when they are in place.
 
We're unbeaten this season. 2 wins and a draw. Seems a bit harsh to fire him.

Got to give him more time,recruited very well but still square pegs in round holes, rinse and repeat from last season,a good 20 minutes followed by the opposition changing tactics and Wilder cannot respond. They targeted Burrows and Hamer as a weak left side defensively. He has to shape up quickly as since he returned,it has been far from convincing.

Thought you were holding judgement until the end of the season 😂. Comical.

If some of you read your comments on another teams forum, you'd laugh at them.
 
The new players on the subs bench have hardly trained because of travelling to sheffield and were they come from during transfer negotiations.
 
Regards Wilder I was a fan during his first stint but after he threw his dummy out and then stabbed Heckingbottom in the back with his "not so private - sign the sorry book" meetings with Abdullah to creep back into the job I have no respect for the man whatsoever. Credit due for what he achieved for us previously and the standard of present recruitment with limited funds. Would I sack him now? No, I don't feel a knee jerk reaction to yesterday's result would be an advantage at this stage considering he has persuaded the 10 new signing to join us plus there hopefully will be more. Later and possibly under new ownership if results are not positive then definitely cheerio. What he needs to sort out now is the fact that with the exception of Gilchrist, Arblaster and Brookes we had a total of 1,961 first team games experience on the pitch and no "leaders", no body with the professional brain power to see things weren't going to plan and totally incapable to do anything about it!!! Plus we had another 1,067 first team games on the bench. Although the buck stops with Wilder and his coaching staff certain people putting on the red and white shirt need to show some balls and earn their money.
 
I think we'll know where we are after about 6 league games.
On about 60% of yesterday's showing, it's not looking brilliant. QPR changed their shape and tactics, and we simply had no answer to their change in play. Wilder appeared in his interview to put the blame for this firmly with the players, but there was no evidence that they were trying to play in a different way in response to QPR'S changes. Surely it's the manager's responsibility to to make effective changes to counter the opposition's play? He did make changes, but only after QPR were given time to stamp their authority on the game, which they did really well.
I didn't want Wilder back, but was prepared to give him until the end of last season. He presided over an utter shambles, and I expected the club to terminate his contract at the end of the season. The club didn't do this, and we'll have to see how this decision pans out. But after a great start, things came off the rails very quickly yesterday, and we know Wilder well enough to understand that we've been here before. Many times.
 
QPR equalized 10vs11 and kinda feels like loss, alarming at least. Let's hope team (and management) will learn from this and not repeat it.
 
People don’t seem to consider what probably happene yesterday.

For the 1st 30 minutes we were brilliant, a class above a really poor QPR side. Everyone around me was kind of bored because it was a mismatch, waiting for a 4 or 5 nil win.

We took our foot off the pedal the last 15 minutes of that 1st half and the warning signs were there.

At half-time I said QPR will be totally demoralised in that changing room but 1 goal and at 2-1 it’s game on.

I was hoping Wilder would be giving the team a big kick up the backside 2nd half telling them the game isn’t over and to expect QPR to come at us for 15 minute.

We started the 2nd half complacent and over confidence and at 2-1 QPR could smell blood and we panicked trying to hold on.

It was quite an entertaining match and QPR did deserve their late equaliser.

Loads of positives but also loads of negatives, was concerned that Wilder was slow to act when QPR were just starting to dominate.

I have no concerns yet as this was a learning experience. Think we have an excellent team and been impressed with Wilder so far

But always best to wait 6 to 10 matches before anyone can make a judgement.
 
Hopefully it's an early kick up the arse to not be complacent and to expect teams to fight back. I'd sooner it happened now so it can be rectified than something that costs us a promotion or play off place later on.

Its if it keeps happening we've got a problem because the starting 11 is well capable of beating anyone in this league if it's got its collective head screwed on.

Still tough to judge until we get to the end of the transfer window but even so, being 2-0 up inside 15 minutes should really mean that we try and put it to bed before half time against a bloody average side at this level.

Wilder's the man for the job at this level but if we go up, we might need to do what Southampton did with Adkins when they went up and wave him goodbye.
 
Wilder has to be given a bit of time, he was bold and let 18 players leave. A huge task to rebuild a squad in a few months and it still isn't finished.

If the new owners are ambitious and have money they should back him until Christmas minimum. If we are way off the pace by then then the question will and should be asked.
