Can we kill this idea now that Wilder signs players for cover. anyone he signs is expected to compete for a starting place. I started Woods thread in the Rumour mill for a recommendation, I genuinely think he's a player we could sign, even if they ask £3m I think the board will go for it.

Fleck and Coutts are doing fantastic but there is only Lundstram competing for that position with them and whilst I don't see either becoming complacent whilst Wilder is here you never know, we all know how Coutts can be for example. If not Woods then someone else for sure in that position.

You had me agreeing there ......... right up until you reached the bit where; "even if they ask £3m I think the board will go for it" ..........

I've just finished cleaning the coffee off my computer screen where the mouth-full I had just taken sprayed out ..... ;):Do_O

The thought of OUR Board contemplating spending £3m on a player  wow !! :)

I mean I know its a long shot, but they have it in them, See Brayford. But if we are top 4th come Jan. and Wilder goes to the board and says Ok, I need this player and he's going to cost this much and I think he will see us over the line then I think they will grant him that transfer/transfers

Not as if CW has Spunked Muneh on dross so far, so he can be trusted and he's not going to go to the board and ask for £7m/£10m/£15m

The Brentford fans believe they wouldn't consider anything below £7m for him. Not a chance he will be here in January.

Seeing as it's almost Christmas - maybe we can go for Roy Wood
That would be a wizard jest

Thought Coutts was awful first half
Struggled when being closed down quick and gave the ball away sloppily much like the other night
I was genuinely worried this was going to be the story of the rest of our season
But like all good players he adapted and shone through second half like a beacon of skittles
I always like Coutts. Been proved right. It’ll be same with Lundstram he’s had a couple of Hiccups and sceptics are doubting him but he’ll come good under Wilder and co.

Their fans are hardly going to say we’d take £1m for him, Roy?

It’s like our fans on here saying Brooks is worth £20m when in reality he isn’t.

Now that’s a toughie as it stands due to the fact we need a player of Woods calibre but at the same time I wouldn’t swap Brooks for anyone for now as he’s brilliant to watch.

But the answer is no.

That’s not the point you were (rightly) making, though. A bunch of fans saying what their club should or shouldn't sell a player for is next to worthless. In fact it doesn’t even deserve a re

That was indeed my point but I thought I’d answer the question anyway, I’m glad somebody got it.

Only on the bench for Brentford, also I read somewhere they might be open to offers.

Be a hell of a trio in midfield.

* Didn't realise this was in general, just did a search.

I heard he was off to Swansea, and I wouldn't swap him for any of our current golden triangle.

We've just got Norwood!??
I'd say we could play them together. We have to try to sign these sort of players when there made available. Players of that calibre are hard for us to sign if in the clubs plans e.g. Freeman

Maybe more a fantasy, but I'd bs disappointed if he is available and we didn't enquire. Good age and can even play in the wing back positions. Although I would have him in the 3.

Makes sense we could play Basham, Lundtsram, Norwood, Coutts, Wood, Leonard, Fleck, Bryan, Woodburn and Duffy. This leaves a spot for a keeper.

Can we bid for the lad that just went to Ipswich too, Nolan?

Sheffield Midfield FC they'd call us, playing in front of the opposition.

We dont need another midfielder. We've probably got the best midfield in the division.

It's a striker that we need and perhaps a LWB

Or, just a thought, we could spend the money on a striker, you know, someone we actually need??
Again, just an idea??

If it was as simple as saying we want and we get then yes.

However our business in this window and previously would suggest it is not.

So why not chase one, instead of wasting time on a player that won't play, as we don't need him!???

If we can't sign the striker we need, which there's a high chance we won't , it doesn't mean we can't invest the money elsewhere. Which at his age, it's a good investment. Particularly when you take into account Duffy probably won't be here next season, along with woodburn. And there's absolutely no guarantee coutts will return near his previous level. Oh and he would get lots of game time in our team.

Yes we need a striker but we should also still keep an eye out for good investments. If players are available we will get better deals for better players. And over time build a good squad.

Anyone care to explain why Ryan Woods would leave Brentford for us?

Brentford have a fantastic chance this season and they shouldn't even be considering letting him leave on a loan to buy. He should be wanting to stay as well because this time next year he could be in the PL with them.

But he is approaching 25 now so maybe he's a bit old for them?! And they've done very well without him so far - Lewis Macleod seems to be impressing in midfield so this could influence their thinking.

But I really think they'd be mad to let him go because this season is by far their best chance yet.
