They'll hang on until the end of the window in which case I think we're out providing we can land our next targets.

Bit surprising given they are closer to relegation zone than the top 6 and have taken 8 points from their last 9 games.

Martin seems to be an optimist about a "very very talented squad" so he'll just take whatever Millwall's offer is at the end of the window unless Leonard now prefers to be a free agent in May.

Solution simple get Leonard to sign a pre contract deal on Tuesday. Get in another target quick such as Clayton on loan and pick Leonard up for free at the end of the season. We can't afford to waste anymore time playing up to Martins ego. If its true the offer is £750k and they've rejected it then its time to pull the plug on the deal.

Can we swap places Grapps?

You would hate it pal, not even new year yet and I already have San Francisco, Montreal and Los Angeles to plan. Plus I have to plan a lot of travel around footy, i.e. trying to see what Sunday flight options I have, so that I can go to Norwich!

Really hope we pull the plug on this deal now....better options out there and it would serve Rug Ron right to have to let him go for nothing in the summer.......move on Blades, we are better than this.

And signs for Millwall................bugga.

That’s fine.
No doubt Wilder will have already spoken to the player and/or the agent to gauge interest.

If Leonard isn’t money motivated or ambitious and wants to stay down south for family/ partner reasons.
Then if his heart isn’t in it for the challenge at SU, then it’s best we let him join Millwall.

But Wilders patience in the chase suggests he knows that we are his preferred choice.

By the way, we can't sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January. You can't do that with players based in the same country. Be funny if we could tap him up well in advance of the end of the season though. Good old 'off the record discussions'...

I don’t think that is right, you can sign pre contract agreements in the same country.

However, I wondered why you don’t often hear about these and I don’t think they are that useful to either party. Apparently, it doesn’t include the financial terms and length of contract and the club would obviously require a medical closer to the point of joining.

I think if Leonard only wants to join us and they won’t let him go, he just waits to become a free agent. Meanwhile, if Southend want any money, they’ll have to sell in the window and they’ll want to do that as late as possible.

If Clayton is at all a possibility, we should press ahead for that now.

Lenny will leave for a Championship side either in January or at the end of the season. I wish him luck wherever he goes. If it's you, so be it. If it's not then someone else will pay him a lot more than we do now. Ron still harbours hopes of the play-offs, so keeping Lenny may still appeal to him. Of course the deal with you may already be done as Mr Wilder still hasn't departed trying to sign him.

Couldn't we just sell a few thousand of next seasons kit with his name on the shirts?

Is he "injured" today? Late fitness test.

If the transfer of Leonard is delayed I would sign Clayton or Forshaw on loan with Leonard signing a precontract to join us in the premiership next season
