Strong accusation pointed at CW there Chip

The board give him the money (however small) and CW decides who he wants to target. If he feels he's worth the fee then so be it
 

If it's true then we should have bid this amount in the summer and had him then, seems a bit desperate to do it now.

He's not immune to my wrath B58 he has made one or two errors in the transfer market before (you all know who they were) i suppose they were just gambles,ive a feeling this Leonard could be just another Lundstram type,and yes i'm not a Lundstram fan.

When i think we could probably get two Oztumer's for the price of one Leonard or Lundstram.

Can't beleave we would pay a million for a player who is out of contract in the summer and never played above 1 division..Wilder has said no ones having the princes pants down while I'm here !!
That would be rape of the highest order.
 
I can neither deny or confirm it's someone that would know.........

Unless, of course, CW thinks that a player we appear to have had watched multiple times can actually do a decent job for us in a midfield that we fans seem to think is struggling?
Or we could leave the midfield as it is?
Or buy a proven quality mid-fielder for much more than £1m?
Lots of options and opinions :)

Totally agree with this about Oztumer. I've been campaigning for us to go get Oztumer now for about 3 years. I think he's the best "lower league" midfielder I've seen in the past 40 years or so. That's all.

As for Lenny Ryan - haven't got a clue if he's any good or not. Wilder obviously thinks he is and he hasn't got too many wrong up until now. But I'm also not a big fan of Lundstram tbh. I think the lad isn't bad and he's improved quite a bit over recent weeks - he's now approaching "Decent" on my clapometer. But I don't think he's good enough at Championship level right now and I hope that this guy Ryan is going to be a bit more on the pace than Lundstram, if indeed that's the way it's going to go.

Oztumer, meanwhile, would fit in like a hand in a glove. Be absolutely fantastic if we got him.

Some club in the Championship will take a chance on him.

A local manager (Ferguson at P/Boro) brought him into League football from Dulwich Hamlet where he scored 49 goals in 74 apps,currently at Walsall he is on 23 goals in 60 apps,what i like about him is he is always busy,happy on the ball,brings others into play,and scores goals.

Whats not to like about Erhun.

Is he Fenerbahce or Galatasaray though?? :)
 
I'm sure Wilder has looked at Oztumer, (he ripped us apart 3 times last season!) and knows what he could bring, I also suspect quite a few others have had him watched as well....yet he remains at Walsall.....his lack of height has always been an issue for some at 5ft 2in yet Flecky is only 5ft 6in and Duffy is 5ft 7in so height, or lack of doesn't seem to be an issue for Sir Chris.

Interesting that his contract is up in the summer so I would expect him to move in January....Duffy's contract hasn't been extended, (yet) and expires in the summer as well but at 32 will he get one, despite his good early form?........At 26 and a similar type of player surely Oztumer must be worthy of consideration....he typifies the market in which we are shopping at the moment and I would be amazed if he wasn't on the radar.

Is it not the case that we are letting the fact that he is out of contract in the summer cloud the judgement as to whether this player is worth the money? If he turns out to be a good player or at the very least a viable replacement for fleck/Coutts then maybe 1 mil is a snip. Admittedly nobody knows the extent of Lennys ability and the main reason he is not already with us appears to be down to the stubborn nature of their chairman. But just think how much it would cost us to get a player in that can come close to Fleck or Couttsy under normal circumstances.
 
Think its a fair guess to say he's likely to sign for us in JTW after listening to Wilder's interview, be surprised if he didnt now.

But that’s like saying Ibrahimich is a world class player, so Man United should have gifted PSG an extra £10 million.

The fact is that Leonard will be available on a FREE in 6 months.
The length of a players contract has a significant affect on the valuation.
Southend will get nothing and Leonard himself will be counting on a huge pay rise in 6 months.

Can a club like Southend afford to turn away even £500,000?
