Wow. That post feels like a fair old rant to me and I hope you feel better for it.
in that,
You're entitled to your opinions and the fact that I totally disagree with them is just the way it is. What do you think I'm going to say? Ron's a bad boy for hanging onto a good player? I don't think so. Anyway, we've probably done here now as I doubt either of us will change track.

I agree, your Ron will continue to work his way around waters he's familiar with. Once in a while your manager, whoever that happens to be, will inform Ron of a player with potential and then Baron Ron's eyes will light up at the prospect of a greater number of shekels filling the Roots Hall coffers. Nothing new or wrong in that, but it's hardly the mark of a Chairman who is attempting to up your home crowd to 14 or 15 thousand.

We're doing ok if you hadn't noticed, and although I think we'll finish in the top 10 in the Championship, there are those on here who think we'll do much better with a little additional recruitment. I wonder if Len reads forum's like this? Anyways, good luck this season, and I hope promotion happens for you. UTMB!

Why are you being so smug and patronising? You're making yourself look stupid.

Subjective of course, and only responding to a poster whose tone has sometimes called for something to remind him of the trajectory of our interest in their player.

Anyway Chali, why you're that interested, or feel the need to try and correct me, is puzzling, each to their own I suppose. Do you possess some type of morally superior barometer that enables you to offer guidance to other posters?

Unfortunately, the max capacity of our ground is 12,400,and it will stay that way until the new stadium becomes reality. And a few posts back I offered up congratulations on your results and position, so I had noticed. As for my tone, well I'm defending my corner, but you know that already. Thanks for the good wishes by the way.

I'm not guiding or correcting you: you're free to be as obnoxious as you please.

I've always thought that condescension is more at home on pork talk than here.

Something's clearly gotten up your nose today.

What I wrote wasn't intended to be taken that seriously (something you appear to have mistakenly done). Your use of the term obnoxious would be more appropriate for someone who dabbled in racist or homophobic content, rather than attack myself who has no truck with either. I think you're overreacting and need to take a deep, deep breath and clear your nasal passages, or whatever it is that's bunged up.

No mate, having a good day thanks after an excellent bank holiday.

I've said what I wanted to say, you obviously don't agree, let's move on.

This thread is embarrassing now.

It's just selfish of me to say that I am not sure how to do it but I am more than embarrassed to say that I am a little bit confused about the need to get better at the moment as I am not sure how to do it but I'm poor and not much substance to my girlfriends in my manbag in the unlikely event that we get a thread about how badly we got shafted and how much I put it through as I was a teenager who had a dream we drew 2-2 away at Peterborough in the first place.

Strange that, after making a misjudged analysis as if your moral nerve ends were offended, you then gave the impression you weren't feeling that well. Would hate to think you're frazzled, still, as long as you say you're feeling better that's all that matters.

[/QUOTE you at your ]

I thought you were serious when you wrote (post #3004) "I've said what I wanted to say......let's move on".

I didn't realise you were instructing me to stop writing? I thought you'd decided to stop writing, period. I took you at your word, so don't blame me if you fail to get your meaning across...anyway, I don't respond well to impolite demands, so there! ;)

No need to apologise. At the moment I probably agree with you, but as you know, things can change so quickly in football. We started slowly/shite last season, but when Phil had all of his first choices available we went on a purple patch run only to throw it away at the death. This time round we are still waiting for all of his first choicers to be available. When that happens we shall see. Way to early to be writing us off.

Back to Lenny, if he goes for nothing, well he'll go with my best wishes. Clubs like ours don't have the financial muscle that clubs like you have. Our ground is 'cosy' and a 'traditional' football stadium (aka crumbly & old), our capacity is low (12,400) and we don't own the ground. Our ability to generate income is limited to ticket sales plus the normal shop and food stuff very little else on the commercial front. We are never going to able to compete on wages with those more moneyed outfits of FL1, but.............we keep improving year on year, we are normally hard to beat, and the quality of our football at times is up there with the absolute best in FL1. Ron is obviously gambling on making the play-offs at least, which is why Lenny is still with us, and probably because you haven't come anywhere near the release amount deep inside his head. But we've had this discussion many times already.

Its the same as many League One clubs at Southend and League 2. When I say its the same I mean that its proper football. Before we played in League One I'll be honest and say I used to pity League One fans as I used to think they'll never play in the Premier League, will lose all their best players after one season of a player doing well etc. But now I actually am slightly jealous in a way of clubs from League One and two. Why? Because there is a closeness between the fans that is not replicated at bigger clubs - in almost all cases. When you go away at Southend and there's only a few hundred at times (I know Southend do travel in large numbers to be fair) you are a closer band of people, supporting a team that is often close to big clubs, yet you've chosen to support the local team. This is particularly the case for clubs in the North west, with Man U, Man City, Liverpool etc. Then you've got Bury, Rochdale, Blackpool, Morecombe. Fans who support the local team are the way it should be. Local supporters experience a feeling to their club that fans not from their home town will never get. I actually feel sorry for glory fans to be honest because they just don't get it.

In my case, I think we're lucky at United because the club is still heroic and an underdog. Not arrogant like our neighbours across the city, or Leeds who both think they are massive clubs. Wednesday fans call themselves the Massive and in many cases they actually believe it!

Anyway I actually love Phil Brown, I'm in the minority but I think he's a great manager and maybe his relationship with lenny is keeping it all together. I hope you do well this season, as I said before. Just hope Lenny doesn't lose interest if you do keep him, but he seems to professional for that. I still hope we sign him!

And the genuinely-felt, very best wishes to you for the rest of the season. I am so glad that we are out of Division 3, but this country's ability to sustain a 92-club structure is key to what still makes our football culture special. That makes every club important, to me, including those trying to get in to the 92 (but excluding pigs and Leeds, obviously, and possibly Port Vale).

:)

Vale are ok in my view. They have their dick head set of fans who were idiots at the recent game but they are a proper football club of loyal fans generally. I'm not keen on the likes of Reading, Fulham. Watford and MK. Crap support - never sing much.

I really....really hope we don't panic buy Leonard.....just cannot see how he will improve things.

It always makes me so happy when Phil is talking about signing Josh Wright when our remaining 1st choice centre backs both went off injured last night against Gillingham. We literally have no specialist CBs left for Saturday. There has been talk of Lenny playing CB on Saturday paired with Hendrie, or it may be time for the U21s or the youfs to step up. So, if we need dosh quickly the deal may yet happen with you, unless we get some other old CB geezers from Ipswich or Norwich with knackered hamstrings to replace our existing old injured geezers with knackered hamstrings currently resting quietly with our physio team. My optimism (which was questioned on here yesterday) has vanished up shit creek for the moment.

Outed as a Phil Brown lover!

Actually, count me in too - got a hell of a lot of time for him as a manager (however orange his features might be).

I think it's time we close this thread down and just re-sign Tonge, Brown and Monty.

They could still do a job
