I thought about something approaching a witty response, but I just can't be arsed. Don't think it will happen in this window.

And in breaking news.........what are the chances of your lot creaking their way over the promotion line? Less than a point a game so far, not exactly what you'd expect from a club who you'd consider would make a serious attempt at promotion this season......you might limp over the 40 point mark if you're lucky, or even burst into a canter and shake hands with Mr 50 points if your players show they're concerned.....and as I write Len's value sinks through the floor faster than Trump's fibs escape from his lips.

Creaking overt he promotion line? With 5 of our best regular first team players still coming back from injury we are hanging on as best we can. One minute we're playing promotion stuff, then the next hour we are contriving to make Xmas come early for opposing teams.

As for your points prediction of 50 points max, well I'll just wait and see. If you haven't managed to sign Mr Leonard by the end of August, then maybe we can compare opinions again come January 18. Seems like a lot of your poster chums on here now reckon Len's a no-mark. Suits me, he's managed two goals in four league games and is starting to show the form that I know he's capable of still wearing a Navy blue shirt. Ok, back to the tits again.

Crikey, 250 pages dedicated to this chap. Must be something in this. I've just got one question, though:

were u erd dis pals?

Irrespective of injuries it won't be doing any favours in keeping a happy player, since Ron had said you wanted to keep him for your promotion push? As you say, he's playing well, fair enough, but I can't see you finishing top 6 to be honest and he'll leave for nothing next summer. I can name 6 sides I fancy more than Southend to finish top 6 and can only see mid table for you guys - sorry.

No need to apologise. At the moment I probably agree with you, but as you know, things can change so quickly in football. We started slowly/shite last season, but when Phil had all of his first choices available we went on a purple patch run only to throw it away at the death. This time round we are still waiting for all of his first choicers to be available. When that happens we shall see. Way to early to be writing us off.

Back to Lenny, if he goes for nothing, well he'll go with my best wishes. Clubs like ours don't have the financial muscle that clubs like you have. Our ground is 'cosy' and a 'traditional' football stadium (aka crumbly & old), our capacity is low (12,400) and we don't own the ground. Our ability to generate income is limited to ticket sales plus the normal shop and food stuff very little else on the commercial front. We are never going to able to compete on wages with those more moneyed outfits of FL1, but.............we keep improving year on year, we are normally hard to beat, and the quality of our football at times is up there with the absolute best in FL1. Ron is obviously gambling on making the play-offs at least, which is why Lenny is still with us, and probably because you haven't come anywhere near the release amount deep inside his head. But we've had this discussion many times already.

Ron...er sorry, Roots....you're a cracking advocate for optimism. Your determination to believe that all things are possible is something many Blades recognise and share. Thing is, the longer this has gone on the more it becomes obvious that the flag you're waving for Southend liberation is slowly disappearing into the mists of another season of under-achievement and over-promising from your the guy who masquerades as your Chairman.

All we are saying....is give Len a chance! (sorry Lennon, never quite sure who this is credited to)

You've lost me on the liberation bit but that's irrelevant. How are we meant to give Len a chance?. Say sorry for knocking back under value bids? Back to where we started from I think, pay enough, and what you've offered isn't that. It's always been in your Chairman's and Manager's hands.

Completely incorrect I'm afraid.....

Your Ron hasn't identified what enough is! What has become clear is that your Chairman has acted in a feudal, Baronial manner, where his fiefdom is his and his alone, thus any suggestion of looking after the player's welfare is solely at the dispensation of Baron Ron.

The fact that Len would receive more in wages, be treated to a better quality of coaching and, dare I say it, management, well none of this seems to enter Baron Ron's shiny bonce. Len is currently a lower Division 1 player, yet your Chairman seems to think Len carries a hefty price tag. Horses for courses, we're not talking about an Ajax wonder-kid, we're talking about a young player with potential, and it's this potential that will improve at a club with better facilities than your 'cosy' little club can provide. So please don't suggest that your Chairman wants to give Len a chance.

It must be frustrating for the player. So much smoke blown up Len's bum (does Ron do this, and if so, does he enjoy it?), and all because Baron Ron can barely cling on by his fingertips as your 'cosy' club's tenacity amounts to very little when all's said and done.

Wow. That post feels like a fair old rant to me and I hope you feel better for it.

You're entitled to your opinions and the fact that I totally disagree with them is just the way it is. What do you think I'm going to say? Ron's a bad boy for hanging onto a good player? I don't think so. Anyway, we've probably done here now as I doubt either of us will change track.

Why are you being so smug and patronising? You're making yourself look stupid.
