He started talking about it in the context of the loan window almost the second the main window slammed shut.
 

Tbh, I think £350 is a small offer for the lad, we paid around £600k for Done in L1 :o !

Still, as others have said, there are other fish in the sea ( if not shrimps ;) ) and Wilder can afford to wait on this one as we have options.
 
I'm sure we're in talks with other clubs regarding similar targets but they've just not been disclosed yet. It's the fact this story (along with Holmes) has been regurgitated by the media so many times that it becomes laborious.

So many 'facts' and 'figures' being flown around when no one here can actually confirm anything. There will be a lot of work going on behind the scenes and we just need to be patient and trust in Wilder. Bar another CB and GK I'm quietly confident with the squad we've got :D
 
I'm sure Tufty has other alternatives including Premier League loans. The 2 Chelsea midfielders Baker and Chalobah looked strong for England U21s in the summer but probably out of our reach.

If £50k is added to your last reported bid of £350k then that won't be enough. By the way, the Echo article shows that Leonard is being offered a new deal. There is no indication or hint anywhere that he is interested in signing. What might clinch it is that Phil Brown has made some rather impressive signings with more to come it seems. He is talking of one that has the 'wow' factor if he signs. These signings may convince Len we can make a very credible bid for the Championship this year.

Anyway, good luck this season chaps whoever you sign. It's been highly enjoyable posting news, banter and bollocks with the majority of you, and even more fun posting with the strange ones from a parallel universe.
 
Now we're not spending on Holmes, and possibly any other attacking midfielder, surely we can afford to offer at least another 100k.
 
A poster on our board reckons Lenny has been offered £15k a week to sign, and he says that figure comes from one of our players. Does that sound likely to you? I have no idea what your lads are earning.
 
If we think he's not worth a penny more than £350,000, offer that, get it accepted and the player signed; would we be happy to sell him the next day for £350,000 and a penny?

Rootshallbloke , if you make us that offer maybe that's a way to make all parties happy?

You're not getting it are you?

We have a budget, Wilder needs a number of players. He has it planned, and that doesn't include using money he has planned for another player to pay more than he seems reasonable for another.

Why the desperation?
It's not about affording it's about sticking to a budget. If this kid was so great and worth the extra someone else would have swooped in by now from our level.
So for me, at this moment 7 weeks from the window closing, we have bid his value.

Sounds like shite to me!!
He would not be getting a salary more than anyone else..:and nobody at our club is on that wage.

That sounds about 5k too high I would have thought 8-10 Max. But if he comes at 300 to 350k then additional wages could be built into the cost of the player against the budget if wilder had an idea he wanted Leonard and the amount of budget he could allocate was 'x' then there could be some wiggle room . Smart guess' puts billy around the 17-20k mark and brayford just below that,, most of the others with championship increases closing in towards 7-10k is what I was led to believe. Any idea on what lenny is getting now?
 
This deal is dead in the water to me not happening. We had this last season with Kyle McFaddzen then Jack oconnell came out nowhere. I don't see the desperation to sign him can't really see where he will play week in week out seems a player Wilder wants to sign to play certain position in certain games move on I think someone else will come in.

I have absolutely no idea, but I wouldn't think it's anything like the figures you are quoting. Probably Simon Cox or Anton Ferdinand would have been our highest earners before the arrival of Michael Kightly, and if I believe some of the posters on the Zone they would have been on around the £5/6k mark. I'm sure our poster believes the £15k figure, and I believe in Father Christmas so I'm not sure what that tells me.

Your wages department must be on loan from Swillsborough bud!!!
 
Leave him be. Let him collect his 15k a week and play League 1 football for a club who won't even trouble the play offs.

On a lighter note, I'm sat outside a bar in Tenerife and the Spanish vocalist has just done a cracking version of Annie's Song. I don't think the locals, German's and Swede's appreciated my version mind.

I'd be surprised if we are offering him that much.

Think it was widely known we paid our first team £5k a week last season so you could guess at them doubling it at max for this season.

That'd put him on par with sharp and maybe stearman, our 2 most senior players, I'd guess.

Maybe if wilder rates him that high?

I doubt even Billy is on that.
To be honest if that's true not only will the club not want him but I don't think a single fan will either.
